THE EGO IN MAN

A high wave rises on the surface of the ocean putting up a show of a

separate volume of water. It may take pride in its supposedly irrepressible

impetuosity and mistaken notion of individuality. But it subsides and

disappears in the mighty sea again before our own eyes in a matter of a few

seconds. It does not know that even that short –lived individuality is relative

to the other waves like it but not in relation to the great ocean of which it

is just an insignificant speck.

The Paramatma is the ocean and the Jivatma a trivial wave on it. Like any

other wave, the Jivatma is also not an independent entity by itself. It is a

part of the universal soul and its so-called individuality is only in respect

of the other Jivatma but not the Paramatma.

Hence, the human being, in whose flesh his Jivatma is encased, should

understand that he is only a microscopic fraction of that Paramatma every way,

not having any individuality of his own. Everything is in the universe belongs

to Him.

So an aspirant should give up all ideas of ‘I ‘and ‘mine’. He should

consider that everything he does here is being by Him alone but not by this

‘I’. The feeling of ‘I’ and ‘mine’ is the basis of his ignorance that blinds

him to all spiritual enlightenment. Any length of time utilized on gaining an

intellectual grasp of this secret and any amount of mental or physical energy

spent on emotional realization of the wisdom underlying it, is easily worth it.

There is a definite divine program in the working of man’s evolution to

perfection from Jivahood to Paramatmahood. He only aids himself in that

evolution by completely erasing his ego and doing everything for Him and in His

name, that is in a dispassionate manner.

2. SAI'S NEWS FROM THE TIME MACHINE:

March 1917- (Holi). Baba appeared to Hemadripanth in dream and said that

he would come for meals that day and finally he arrived in the form of a

picture.

March 1988- Swami Ram Baba a noted devotee associated with Baba left his

mortal coil at Bombay.

3. SAI IN DREAMS:

http://www.ettitudemedia.com

These are the dream sequences and messages as received by SaiBaNiSaji From our

beloved GURU LORD SAINATH OF SHIRIDI. In Anticipation that this feature will

help in one's spiritual growth are hereby compiled from his personal Diary and

presented to SAIBANDHUS.

Translated and presented by RAGHU RAMAN SATULURY.

10-01-1995

Yesterday night I prayed Baba to help me in climbing the first step on

the spiritual ladder.

Only an individual with a mindset and thoughts centered on what he can

carry along with him when he departs from the world can alone achieve progress

in the field of spiritualism.

Love for the physical body and sensual pleasures will put one step

backward in the spiritual path. Decide well before taking the lead.

Think twice before taking a plunge into the ocean of spiritualism.

14-01-1995

I requested Sai to tell me about the modalities to be followed in

spreading HIS philosophy. Baba advised-

To understand and practice HIS ideals in Toto before preaching others to

follow. Overcome the ego conflicts and humbly follow the chosen path to achieve

success.

Lot of introspection is needed to deliver the goods courageously.

23-01-1995

Before retiring to bed, I asked Sai to give me tips to traverse on the

right path. Sai appeared in the form of an unknown person and said-

God has an umbrella for protection of his devotees, but it is the devotee

himself who has to put in the efforts to come under it.

Do not cause inconvenience to others by your life style.

Do not engage in drum beating the good deeds done by you.

Love all and do not aspire for wealth of others, especially the lower

class.

Understand the difficulties of the fellow human beings.

Nothing comes in this World without putting efforts.

To be continued…..

4. QUINTESSENCE OF SRI SAIBABA'S PHILOSOPHY:

(By Late Sri Bharam UmamaheswaraRao)

" Shashi " : shashi_31

27. Maya

Pujya Sri T. Subramanian garu of Hyderabad, a great disciple of Swami

Chinmayananda, in his Book ‘Vedanta in Prose and Verse’, has written on Maya

as: ‘The Sruti says that Maya is the material cause of the universe and Lord of

Maya is the great Eswara, who pervades the whole Universe or sentiment and

insentient objects.

Maya is experienced by all. It is true from the empirical point of view,

indeterminable from the logical point of view but negligible from the absolute

point of view, yet it is responsible for the appearance and disappearance of

the world. Being the sum total of ‘Vasanas’ or the impressions, it affords a

medium of reflection, for ever shining and all pervading Atman and thus gives

rise to Eswara. Jiva and Jagat (Universe) without in any way affect the nature

of Atman. It makes the impossible look as possible. Such is the inscrutable and

astonishing power called Maya.

The magic of Maya defies the reasoning of logic and its application is

irrelevant, because Maya is a strange mixture of doubt, wonder and error. As

the plant lies latent in the seed, so also the waking and dream worlds are

implicit in deep sleep. Just so, the impressions of the entire Universe lie

latent in Maya. This forms an ideal reflecting medium for the ever shining

Brahman, giving rise to Jiva, Jagat and Eswara’.

5. SANATANA DHARMA & SHRI SHIRDI SAIBABA

Sree Ram Navami 27-3-2007

The birthday of Rama Chandra is observed on the 9th of the light half of

the month Chaitra (March-April) and is kept by some as a strict fast. It was on

this day that Vishnu incarnated as Rama through Dasharat's wife Kaushalya. This

day is also important because the celebrated Sanskrit poet Tuli Dasa started

composing his classic Ram Charit Manas. The devotees take a bath in Saryu River

on this day. The fast on this day reminds us about the righteousness of Rama,

his devotion to his teacher, shelter to the refugee, brotherhood, devotion to

parents, monogamy, devotion to the master by Hanuman and Angad, dutiful

devotion of huge bird Garud. The temples of Rama are illuminated and his image

adorned with costly ornaments. The Ramayana is read in the temples and Naches

(nautches) are kept up during the night of the 9th. The celebration concludes

on the 10th.

SREERAMA-NAVAMI FESTIVAL from Sai Satcharita-Chapter VI

This day was very dear and sacred to the devotees of Sai Baba. Most of

them turned out on the occasion, and took a leading part in the management of

the fair. Tatya Kote Patil looked to all outward affairs, while the internal

management was entirely left to one Radha Krishna Mai, devotee of Baba. Her

residence was full of guests on the occasion, and she had to look to their

needs, and also to arrange for all the paraphernalia of the fair. Another work,

which she willingly did, was to wash out and clean and white-wash the entire

Dwarakamai, its walls and floor, which were blackened and were full of soot on

account of the ever-burning Dhuni (sacred fire) of Sai Baba. This work, she did

during the night, when Sai Baba went to sleep every alternate day in the

Chavadi. She had to take out all the things, including even the Dhuni, and

after thorough cleaning and whitewashing replace them, as they were before.

Feeding the poor, which was so dear to Sai Baba,

was also a great item in this fair. For this purpose, cooking, on a grand

scale and preparing various sweet dishes, was done in Radha-Krishna Mai’s

lodging, and, various rich and wealthy devotees took a leading part in this

affair.

ALLAHADAD, INDIA, March 9, 2007: Time magazine photographer Prashant

Panjiar has documented the recently held Ardh Kumbha Mela in a series of

stunning black and white photos. The festival lasts 45 days at the confluence

of three holy rivers, the Ganges, Yamuna and the esoterically mystical

Saraswati. An estimated 70 million pilgrims gathered for this year's festival

and Panjiar's photos have captured both the sadhus and the millions of humble

pilgrims come to bathe. This is an above-average photo essay and commentary

highlighting the world's largest spiritual gathering.

Sai Ram What can I write about Baba I had promised Baba to write my

experiences in this website. I do not know where to start...When we first

immigrated from India to New Zealand we had been through many tough times but

it was Baba who was always with us, our pillar of strength who helped us to

settle well here. We recently shifted from New Zealand to Australia and Baba

helped my husband in getting a very good job.

Both of us were in good jobs in New Zealand but had found out that

education system was very good in Australia, so decided to immigrate to

Australia for our kids future. Also from the information we had gathered, cost

of living was also very reasonable in Australia compared to NewZeland. Our faith

in Baba gave us the strength to take this risk of resigning our jobs in

Newzeland. My husband quit his current job and came to Australia in search of

job. He attended couple of interviews but no one had got back to his

consultant. The only feed back from 2 of the3 interviews he had attended was

that they had few other candidates to interview and they would get back to him.

It was time for me to hand over our house in NewZelandand start for Australia.

I was in New Zealand with my kid’s mom who had come to help us move. Our only

hope was Baba. I was praying Baba day night as we had no strength to face and

start life all over again in a new country. The first thing

Baba arranged for my husband was accommodation.

We knew no one in this country. Suddenly, one day, we met an old friend

who offered to help us with accommodation in Australia as he had a very good

friend living there since past 3 years. This person in Australia helped my

husband to get accommodation with few other bachelors. These youngsters were

very good and helped my husband a lot. They were moving to another house very

soon but they spoke to their real estate agent who offered to give us this

house for 2 months to live. Back to job search, 2 weeks past, first day of the

3rd week was a Monday, it was time for us to pack off start to Australia within

2 weeks. That evening I was very sick also feeling very tensed as to what we

would do if my husband did not get a job. I got a call from my husband saying

he would wait for one more week and if he did not hear back from any companies,

he would come back and look for a job again in New Zealand. I was hurt, I

still feel very guilty for blaming Baba. I

consider Baba to be my father, my father passed away when I was 16. After my

husband hung up, I looked very angrily at Baba's photo forgive me Baba and said

to him r u not with me and my family I thought you were always with me and u r

doing this to me. Then I rang my in-laws I feel very close to my in-laws and

ring whenever I face any problems to inform that we may not immigrate and what

my husband had said.

My father-in-law said never mind, whatever is best will happen do not

worry. Even they were feeling sad. As I hung up, I got a call from my husband

again and he was sounding very happy and said 'CONGRATS', I was already very

sick did not understand what he meant and said why r u saying congrats he

informed me as soon as I hung up his consultant rang him to give the good news

that he got the job ALL BABA'S GRACE I gave the good news to my mum first who

was with me at home...poor thing she was not expressing her feeling all this

time but only praying Baba then. I rang my in-laws immediately and told them.

My mother-in-law then informed me that when I had rang them earlier and was

very sad she prayed Baba to save us from this situation and SHOW HIS MIRACLE

and Baba had answered our prayers THANK YOU BABA In the next 2 weeks my husband

came back to Auckland, we performed a Ganapati Homam in Ganesh temple here, he

came back to Melbourne to arrange everything

for us. My mom left for India and I with my 2 kids came to Melbourne. Its been

2 weeks and this is my 3rd week here. Baba has been helping us everyday I feel

Baba is more like a family person to me, like my dad. He has helped us to find

a house, a good school for my son a day care for my little one. There is no

limit for Baba’s miracles. May Baba be with everyone Thank you Baba for being

with me my family. I surrender myself my family to you. Please increase in us

faith, devotion and patience.

7. SAI WITH CHILDREN:

Smt. Madhu Gopal Ravada, Saidarbar, Hyderabad.

Hello Children! I am Madhu aunty. Do you know Baba use to play with

children and used to tell stories to them? I felt children visiting Saidarbar

should be entertained with good stories. Now I want to tell the stories what

heard in my child hood.

The story of the geese and the tortoise

Once upon a time there lived a pair of geese and a tortoise all three of

whom were great friends. One day they faced a huge drought and the lake in

which they lived was drying up. They decided to leave the lake and look for a

new lake. But the tortoise could not fly. So the geese thought of a plan, where

by the tortoise would have to hold a piece of stick by its mouth which would be

carried by the two geese. The only condition was that the tortoise should not

speak or it will fall from the stick to death. The tortoise agreed to be

silent.

.

But on seeing this strange arrangement, people on the way started

laughing at the tortoise. Unable to control his anxiety, he spoke out " What are

they laughing about? " , and so fell to his death. If he had kept quiet he could

have saved his own life.

8. SPIRITUAL GEMS FROM SAI SATCHARITRA

" Swamy " swamymain

Mon, February 26, 2007 9:29 pm

Spiritual Gems from Sai Satcharitra - Chapter 22

Sai Ram. Let us continue with the Spiritual Gems from Sri Satcharitra -

Chapter 22 from where we left it in the issue No.3, dated 1.2.2007. Due to

Sai's will, this writer could not send the write up for issue No.4 dated

15.2.2007. Sai Ram.

We have seen how Sai protected His devotees from serpent bites. We will see

some more of His leelas in protecting not only the devotees but also the

scorpions, Serpents etc.! Sai Ram. As usual, SSS refers to Sri Sai

Satcharitra and SGS refers to Spiritual Gems from Sai Satcharitra. Sai Ram.

SSS: Hemadpant (Scorpion and Serpent)

(1) At Baba's recommendation Kakasaheb Dixit was daily reading the two

works of Shri Eknath Maharaj, viz., Bhagwat and Bhawartha Ramayana and

Hemadpant had the good fortune to be one of the audiences when the reading of

the works was going on. Once when a portion from the Ramayana relating to

Hanuman's testing Rama's greatness, according to his mother's instructions, was

being read, all the listeners were spell-bound. Hemadpant was one of them. A

big scorpion (none knew where it came from), jumped and sat on the right

shoulder of Hemadpant, on his Uparani (upper dhotar). First it was not noticed,

but as the Lord protects those, who are intent on hearing His stories, he

casually cast a glance over his right shoulder and noticed it. It was dead

silence, not a bit moved here or there. It seemed as if, it also enjoyed the

reading. Then by the Lord's grace, Hemadpant without disturbing the audience,

took the two ends of his dhotar, folded them, and brought them

together, enclosing the scorpion within. Then he went out, and threw it in the

garden.

SGS: Sai Ram. Ys, the scorpion also did a lot of punya (merit) to be

listening to Sri Rama's greatness and the greatness of that great devotee of

Sri Rama, namely Sri Hnuman. So, it too got benefit and was saved! That is the

greatness of Rama Nam. Sai Ram.

SSS: (2) On another occasion some persons were sitting in the upper floor

of Kakasaheb's Wada, just before nightfall, when a serpent crept through a hole

in the window frame and sat coiled up. A light was brought. Though it was first

dazzled, yet it sat still and only moved its head up and down. Then many

persons rushed there with sticks and cudgels, but as it sat in an awkward

place, no blow could be dealt. But hearing the noises of men, the serpent went

out hastily through the same hole. Then all the persons there felt relieved.

SGS: Sai Ram. This serpent too had some life span decreed by Brahma, the

Lord of all creatures, and so was saved from a certain death. Sai Ram.

SSS: Baba's Opinion One devotee named Muktaram, then said that it was

good that the poor creature escaped. Hemadpant challenged him saying that

serpents should better be killed. There was a hot discussion between them - the

former contending that serpents, and such creatures, should not be killed, the

latter that they should be. As night came on, the discussion came to an end,

without any decision being arrived at. Next day, the question was referred to

Baba, who gave His settled opinion as follows:- " God lives in all beings and

creatures, whether they be serpents or scorpions. He is the Great Wirepuller of

the world, and all beings, serpents, scorpions etc., obey His command. Unless

He will it, nobody can do any harm to others. The world is all dependent on

Him, and no one is independent. So we should take pity and love all creatures,

leave off adventurous fights and killings and be patient. The Lord (God) is the

Protector of all.

SGS: Sai Ram. Sai shows in a latter chapter how He could address a frog

and a serpent to listen to His commands (since He was one with Him). Sai Ram.

The above message is also in consonance with the meaning of Isa Upansiat which

we saw in the earlier chapters. Sai Ram.

Bow to Shri Sai - Peace be to all Sai Ram. With His grace, we have

now completed for the time being, this Chapter which again shows the all

pervasiveness

of God in His universe and how His devotees are protected. We will take up

the next chapter in the coming issue of His Glory. Sai Ram.

12. SAI'S BOOK WORLD:

Dear Sai Bandhus,

Pranaams,

It gives me an immense pleasure and sense of deep devotion while going

through the 365 page Volume of “Sai Speaks…..” published by M/s Sterling

Publications, New Delhi.

M/s Sterling publications has taken up the onerous task of compiling Sai’s

words and presenting them lucidly. It has come up in the form of a very neat

and attractive pictorial Booklet vis-à-vis in the form of a Desk Calendar. Some

of them are reproduced below to give an overview of its contents:

1. The best way to serve is to give.

2. My presence is Eternal while My form is transitory.

3. Ignorant is the one who fixes Me to a form. Worshipping the Guru is

equivalent worshipping all the Deities for in the Guru is all the

deities dwell

4. God is most merciful. I am his servant. Remember him always.

5. I rest where there is a full devotion.

6. I say things here. There they happen.

7. I am in you; You are in me; There is no difference.

8. Devotees can never approach Me unless I want them.

I am sure the daily references to these verses, repeatedly on and off will

help in Spiritual growth of the individuals gradually there by promoting a

Healthy Society.

I strongly recommend the personal possession of this wonderful Desk

Calendar in every home of Sai devotee.

The publication is available with Sterling Publishers Pvt. Ltd. A-59,

13. EDITORIAL.

Things impressed me from this magazine:

So an aspirant should give up all ideas of ‘I ‘and ‘mine’. He should

him to all spiritual enlightenment.
