FROM THE SATSANGHS OF SAIBANISA JI http://www.angelfire.com/celeb2/saidarbar/pages/S3500055.htm Compiled by: Sai Sevak Smt. Rajeswari Kasturi, Saidarbar – Hyderabad. How to develop dispassion - Quotations from “Gnaneshwari.” Baba used to ask His devotees to read Gnaneshwari. Surely none can remain actionless even for a moment. Every one is helplessly driven to action by nature-born qualities (gunas) Desisting from action you can not even maintain your body. Let not the wise man unsettle the mind of the ignorant attached to action, but let him get them to perform all their duties, duly performing them himself. (For) ordinary men fellow whatever a great man does. They go by the standards he set up. The Great persons attained perfection only through performance of duties (without attachment). Looking even to the welfare of the society, you should work. There is nothing, in the three worlds for me to do, nor is there anything worth attaining, unattained by me. Still I work. Your duty is only to be engaged in action but never to be concerned with results. Let not the fruit of action be your aim. Let you also be not drawn to inaction. For those that move above the three ‘gunas’, what is obligation? And what taboo? He who is free from the notion of doership and whose reason is not tainted, though he kills these people, he does not kill nor is he bound (by sin). SAI IN DREAMS: http://www.ettitudemedia.com These are the dream sequences and messages as received by SaiBaNiSaji From our beloved GURU LORD SAINATH OF SHIRIDI. In Anticipation that this feature will help in one's spiritual growth are hereby compiled from his personal Diary and presented to SAIBANDHUS. Translated and presented by RAGHU RAMAN SATULURY. FEBRUARY-1995: 05-02-1995 I was pained to note that many authors are writing distorted comments on Sai Satcharita and at times even twisting the actual facts. I prayed Baba to let me know HIS opinion on this aspect. Sri Sai appeared in the form of an unknown person holding a new timepiece in his hand and said- “The life of this time piece dates back to the year 1918. No doubt people have changed the external features and its housing. Feel happy and be contended that they have not changed the machine, its working and the rhythmic beat”. Any one individual cannot change the basic underlying philosophy. 07-02-1995 I was happy that one of my colleagues was earning good. However, I was mentally disturbed as my mind was not free from the inherent jealousy. So I prayed Baba to rid me of this menace. Sai has shown me with the following visuals and removed the feelings of inner jealousy- I have stolen the daily earnings of a blind couple and was caught by the people around. I was beaten up badly and manhandled by the crowd. I got up with a sudden shriek and decided once for all to refine my thinking process. The location was our erstwhile house in Kakainada way back in the year 1965. I was feeling jealous on my neighborhood. A fakir arrived at my house and said “Jealousy is like leprosy, it is not contagious, but will subject you to lot of agony and suffering. Work to remove it from the mind”. Ward off jealousy and hatred. 08-02-1995 I prayed Sai to advise me as to how I should treat a guest on the spiritual plane. Sai has shown me with the visual- Extend hospitality to a guest, lest he might develop hatred and wait for an opportunity to hit back at an appropriate time. Only people whom we owe something in the past step into our house with a reason. Never turn a visitor back without any attention. To be continued….. ---- 4. QUINTESSENCE OF SRI SAIBABA'S PHILOSOPHY: (By Late Sri Bharam UmamaheswaraRao) " Shashi " : shashi_31 28. What is Jnana & Ajnana (Nescience) What is Ajnana? The qualities of Ajnana are: Hankering after fame and seeking honor and repute, indulging in vanity by publishing about one’s virtuous deeds; resorting to tall talk concerning one’s education; physique, knowledge; narrating one’s actions, vain glorious deeds; expecting that others should follow him; hurting others by one’s uncharitable conversations; actions, at variance with professed intentions; strutting with vanity that he is more learned than his Guru; unsteady and always ruffled, whilst engaged in action; crooked motives to earn money through unfair means; Unhesitant in committing sinful acts; mind ever filled with skepticism; lack of restraint in the heart; renouncing one’s Swadharma (ordained duty); conducting oneself violating all moral binding; brooding continuously on sense pleasures; adorning oneself with evil habits; obsession with the physical body; unable to bear the sight of the well being and prosperity of others; lack of foresight regarding the future births; seeking things which are unworthy of acceptance; touching things which are untouchable; going to forbidden places; eating and drinking those forbidden things; associating oneself with such whose association is forbidden; being involved with that where involvement is forbidden; uttering forbidden words; taking delight in the household pleasures, being miserly in virtuous deeds. If one is intent upon eradicating such qualities of Ajnana, one must acquire the good qualities of Jnana. To be continued….. ----------------------------- 5. SANATANA DHARMA & SHRI SHIRDI SAIBABA When a man realizes He is neither the doer nor the enjoyer, the ripples of his mind are stilled. -Ashtavakra Gita 18:51 Said the sage Sanatkumara to Narada: " Where one realizes the indivisible unity of life, sees nothing else, hears nothing else, Knows nothing else that is the Infinite. Where one sees separateness, hears separateness, knows separateness that is the finite. The Infinite is beyond death, but the finite cannot escape death. " Chandogya Upanishad But truly great souls seek my divine nature. They worship me with a one-pointed mind, having realized that I am the eternal source of all. Constantly striving, they make firm their resolve and worship me without wavering. Full of devotion, they sing my divine glory. -Bhagavad Gita 9:13-14 NEWS www.punjabnewsline.com KUALA LUMPER, MALAYSIA, March 25, 2007: A century-old Hindu temple in Malaysia has probably become the first shrine in the world to get an international quality service certification. The Sri Sundararaja Perumal Temple in Klang, just outside Kuala Lumpur, got the ISO 9001:2000 certification in November for its quality in religious, cultural and social services, according to Malaysian news agency Bernama. The Geneva-based International Organization for Standardization certifies companies and service providers worldwide for quality upon achieving certain benchmarks. Malaysia's Works Minister S. Samy Vellu will officiate the certification award ceremony Wednesday. According to the temple president S. Anandakrishnan, for the past three years the temple administration worked hard to get the certification by streamlining and standardizing the day-to-day working of the temple. The Sundararaja temple, known as the " Thirupati of Southeast Asia, " was built more than 100 years ago. " Other temples are not bound to follow our standard operating procedure but we wanted to set a benchmark so that people will know we provide quality services in religious faith, " said Anandakrishnan. " Standard guidelines will be put into place for matters like booking of the wedding hall and do's and don'ts for priests while conducting prayers, " he said. media.www.dailytexanonline.com AUSTIN, TEXAS, March 5, 2007: An array of colors covered students' faces, clothes and the grass of the South Mall in celebration of the Hindu festival of colors, Holi, sponsored by the Hindu Students Council Sunday. The national day of Holi, which was officially Saturday, celebrates the coming of spring, said Anupama Alturu, event organizer and a business honors sophomore. The festival included games, contests, music and students running around throwing rung, or colored powder, at each other. Students were covered from head to toe in the powder, one of the festival's traditions. The festival is also usually accompanied with music that includes a dhol, an Indian drum. The festival comes from Hindu tradition. The colors come from Hindu deities Radha and Krishna, and the spreading of colors represents equality and harmony between people. The day is celebrated with a bonfire on the day of a full moon and involves throwing the colored powder, which is usually combined with water, Alturu said. " In India, this is how they would celebrate it, and we just try to recreate it here, " said Neha Verma, chapter coordinator of the council and marketing senior. The council raises money for the festival from their annual cultural show that showcases classical Indian art and Indian performing arts, including dance and music. www.hindu.com MADHUBANI, INDIA, March 29, 2007: Rishiprada, a five-year old girl from Raima village in Madhubani District, Bihar, has memorized the entire Bhagavad Gita; she also knows many other Sanskrit verses that she recites with full clarity of the language. Dr. Awadhesh Prasad Chaudhary, Rishiparada's great grandfather said she has been fond of learning verses which in turn prompted him to teach her all the 700 verses of Bhagavad Gita and amazingly, she did not disappoint him. Her father, Shatrumardan Chaudhary, has suggested that in view of her unique talent, the Government should come forward to help for her education. --------------- 6. DEVOTEES EXPERIENCES: sridharr24 Sun, April 1, 2007 7:54 pm Sairam, Posting a devotee's experience read recently. Posted by Sai devotee Sun, Apr 1, 15:37 These are some of the miracles of Sai Baba that I have personally experienced in my life recently and really want to share with you all. There was a puja part being held daily at home, and usually we would finish it by doing Sai aarti at the end of the part. One night I had a dream in which I saw the Sai Baba moorti which is in the mandir at home. In the dream that moorti had a big crack in it and I felt that this was indication that something was wrong with the bhakti being done at home. When I woke up in the morning, I could not understand the meaning of my dream. Later on that day, I remembered that we had decided to do aarti the previous night, but had forgotten to carry it out at home. The dream that I got, was an indication of this and it was probably Sai Baba's way of reminding us that we had forgotten to do the bhakti at home in the way that we had planned. I also remembered similar miracles of Sai that devotees experienced as written in the Sai Satcharita, in which Sai Baba reminded his devotees when they forgot to worship Baba in the way that the had wanted. One such incident was described in Chapter IX, Sai Satcharita, in which Sai Baba reminds Mr. Tarkhad about his worship ritual through another one of His great miracles. A few years back I was going through such a bad period in which sufferings didn’t seem to end and I felt that there was no hope in my life. During this time, one night I got a dream in which Sai Baba came and blessed me with happiness. After that dream, things began to be more hopeful and for a period of at least 56 months or so, I felt happy and also felt very close to Sai Baba. I felt very much more content and always felt huge outpour of love for Baba. Although I am again going through an extremely bad period in which I feel that I am trapped in darkness and cannot see a way out, I now have more faith in Baba that someday he will help me to see some light. My faith in Sai increased as a result of this miracle of Sai Baba, and it is only this faith that is my hope in this period of suffering. These miracles really increased my faith and I hope that reading these Sai miracles will strengthen your faith in Baba also Sridhar -------------------------------- 7. SAI WITH CHILDREN: http://www.saidarbar.org/HTML/portraits/7.jpg Smt. Madhu Gopal Ravada, Saidarbar, Hyderabad. Hello Children! I am Madhu aunty. Do you know Baba use to play with children and used to tell stories to them? I felt children visiting Saidarbar should be entertained with good stories. Now I want to tell the stories what heard in my child hood. Truth Will be out, Sooner or Later Swami Vivekananda There was a king who had a large number of courtiers. Each one of these courtiers declared he was ready to sacrifice his life for his master, and that he was the most sincere being ever born. In course of time, a Sannyasin (saint) came to the king. The king told him that there never was a king who had so many sincere courtiers as he had. The Sannyasin smiled and said he did not believe that. The king asked the Sannyasin to test it if he liked. So the Sannyasin declared that he would perform a great yajna (sacrifice) which would extend the king's reign by a several years. He put a condition that a small tank should be made into which each one of the courtiers will pour a pitcher of milk, in the dark of night. The king smiled and said, 'Is this the test?' He asked his courtiers to come to him, and told them what was to be done. They all expressed their joyful assent to the proposal and returned. In the dead of night, they came and emptied their pitchers into the tank. In the morning, the tank was found to be full of water, with no trace of milk. The courtiers were assembled and questioned about the matter. They admitted that each one of them had thought there would be so many pitchers of milk so his pouring water instead of milk would not be detected! Moral: If you try to cheat in a team-work, remember it will be found out. -------------- 8. SPIRITUAL GEMS FROM SAI SATCHARITRA " Swamy " swamymain] Tue, March 27, 2007 5:04 am Sai Ram. We have completed for the time being the Spiritual Gems from Sri Sai Satcharitra, Chapter 22. Let us now take up the study of Chapter 23 from that great spiritual ocean and see what spiritual gems are given to us by Sai's grace. Sai Ram. Shri Sai Satcharitra (SSS) Chapter XXIII Yoga and Onion - Shama Cured of Snake Bite – Cholera Ordinance Broken Ordeal of Guru-Bhakti. Preliminary Really this Jiva (human soul) transcends the three qualities, viz. Sattwa, Rajas and Tamas, but being deluded by Maya, he forgets his nature which is 'Existence-knowledge-bliss', and thinks that he is the doer and enjoyer and thus entangles himself in endless miseries and does not know the way of deliverance. The only way of deliverance is Loving Devotion towards the Guru's feet. The great Player or Actor Lord Sai has delighted His Bhaktas and transformed them into Himself (His nature). We regard Sai Baba as an incarnation of God for reasons already stated, but He always said that He was an obedient servant of God. Though an incarnation He showed the people the way, how to behave satisfactorily and carry out the duties of their respective stations (Varnas) in this life. He never emulated others in any way, nor asked others to have something done for Him. For Him, Who saw the Lord in all movable and immovable things of this world, humility was the most proper thing. None He disregarded or disrespected; for He saw Narayan (Lord) in all beings, He never said, " I am God, " but that He was a humble servant and He always remembered Him and always uttered - " Allah Malik " (God is the sole proprietor or Owner). We do not know the various kinds of Saints, how they behave, what they do and eat etc. We only know that by God's grace they manifest themselves in this world to liberate the ignorant and bound souls. If there be any store of merits on our account, we get a desire in listening to the stories and Leelas of the Saints, otherwise not. Let us now turn to the main stories of this Chapter. SSG: Sai Ram. Once a person becomes totally egoless, he or she becomes One with the One who pervades all the universe and probably beyond. The sense of separation caused by Maya disappears and the Disciple becomes one with the Guru. After it is lit, a lamp becomes One with the lamp that lit it and both of them can now light other lamps. Thus a Guru chooses a few disciples and after judging their suitability, gives upadesh to one or more of them and they in turn spread the knowledge further. This Guru Sishya Parampara is going on unbroken from time immemorial. Sai is a great Lamp in that lineage and humility was His hallmark. Let us see how He helped the sadhakas on the spiritual path. Sai Ram. We will continue with this chapter in the next few weeks. Sai Ram. S.V.Swamy Author, Editor, Proof-Reader and Book Reviewer www.freewebs.com/swamyreviews ----- 9.
