Guest guest
What is quite remarkable is the fact that due to the phenomenon known as mirror neurons; watching someone else in joy, love, at ease, at relaxation, at peace [and possibly with the flow of endorphins] makes us feel the same way [and possibly causes flow of same hormones inside our body] while watching someone greatly excited, agitated, furious, fearful - causes same emotions [and possibly same hormones] in us. This mirror neuron phenomenon can potentially explain why children feel greatly more agitated, cranky, irritable in some people's presence while many adults report greatly enhanced sense of well being when in presence of great saints and other spiritually advanced people or in the company of just plain " good " , peaceful, compassionate, kind souls. They possibly just reflect the emotions of the person in the company. After all, to be in a 'long lasting' company, one has to match the 'wave length' [emotional level] of the partner, failing to do us will cause the relationship to be 'out of balance' and will greatly increase the chance of a 'break up' if the wave length of the partners continues to remain out of sync. This also means that unless met by a Powerful Intent of Change on our part or later company of someone with great emotional maturity, understanding and compassion; our emotional spectrum is largely determined by our parents, siblings, early friends, teachers and company that we had during our childhood and teenage years. This tendency to be like those around us, occurs because of how our mirror neurons work and also because of our 'in born', human tendency to 'fit in'! Tendency to 'fit in' dictates that we must adapt to our environment and surrounding. It means that we must think/feel like people around us. Our adaptability is one of our greatest survival skills; it is also one of our greatest limiting factor; one that prevents us from being radically different from our parents, siblings and others in our surrounding. Guest guest
For these reasons, I will call company of saints, spiritually aligned, spiritually advanced, kind, compassionate, forgiving, peaceful souls as the single most important factor that can naturally promote spiritual growth in us. On the same line, I would note that the company of people ruled by hatred, rage, fear, excessive greed, lust, possessiveness, jealousy, shame, guilt, apathy, cruelty or revenge has potential to cause highest drop in our own emotional well-being. Unless full conscious, aware and alert due to the working of 'mirror neurons', we are pre-programmed to automatically reflect the emotions and states of those around us due to our tendency to 'fit in'; we are likely to think, behave, act and feel the way people around us do. Therefore, the saying goes any advancements in the consciousness level of one soul naturally elevates those around us and works to automatically raise the consciousness level of the universe. > This tendency to be like those around us, > occurs because of how our mirror neurons work > and also because of our 'in born', > human tendency to 'fit in'!
