Guest guest
Face lift, make up, dressing up nicely is an act to love and kindness. We try to present our most pleasing face to the world. This way, we act kindly, lovingly towards the world. Just like we serve food well arranged in clean plates, juice in a beautiful, symmetrical glass to our children; just like we speak in a pleasing, kind, loving voice to our kids; we present ourselves, our body, our face, our soul in the most pleasing, kind, beautiful way that we can. Beauty is a service to the world and serving beauty, elegance and symmetry is among the greatest service we can do. >>I am reading Kt's new book, A Thousand Names for Joy (which has opened me up incredibly) and am now on Chapter 15. In it she says, " When you have what you want-when you are what you want-there's no impulse to seek anything outside yourself. Seeking is the movement away from the awareness that your life is already complete, just as it is. " >>There's more, but that's the general idea. I feel a deep resonance with this... but also wondered what the motivation was for her getting a face lift. >>And yet, if Kt did NOT get a face lift to " feel better about herself, " then why? Is it equivalent to that which motivates us to do anything? Why is " face lift " different than say, making a sandwich? Is it just a judgment call to say that getting a face lift is somehow about insecurity or vanity? http://www.thework.com/athousandnamesforjoy/index.asp
