A gentleman from Bombay said: " I asked Mother in Sri Aurobindo Ashram the

following question: 'I keep my mind blank without thoughts arising so that God

might show Himself in His true Being. But I do not perceive anything. " The reply

was to this effect: 'The attitude is right. The Power will come down from above.

It is a direct experience'. " So he asked what further he should do.

Maharshi: Be what you are. There is nothing to come down or become manifest. All

that is needful is to lose the ego, That what is, is always there. Even now you

are That. You are not apart from it. The blank is seen by you. You are there to

see the blank. What do you wait for? The thought " I have not seen, " the

expectation to see and the desire of getting something, are all the working of

the ego. You have fallen into the snares of the ego. The ego says all these and

not you. Be yourself and nothing more!

What?

You still believe that these bromides will get you to a place that

exists only in your own mind?

You still believe that reading the words of some old dead guy will

rearrange your world in a way that will open a door into another?

You still believe that the right combination of concepts will come

together just so....and you will be magically converted into something

vast and...........big.........happy........and.......

How long are you going to linger around the city dump.....searching

for spare parts......to build an airplane?

Leave you suitcase there.......turn around....come out here......

You can spend the time you have left in the country........

*** Not clear, not clarifying.

In the context, Ramana was correct. *This* will

address the self-contraction...that activity, in

this case termed (or rather, translated) 'ego.'

This is actually addressing itself-- who or what else?

But no, you guys would rather misdirect the focus

into your is/ain't game of debunking and one-upping

each other.

So what's that *activity* all about?

Most teachers will ask those who come to them a few questions about

what they understand concerning themselves...about the search

etc....to determine what would be the best advise to offer.

Those who are just beginning their search are quite often encouraged

to go home and meditate.

Those who have assimilated a deeper understanding are told to look

deeply into the sense of I am or a similar exercise.

When one has received the necessary information and still lingers in

the trance....the teacher will sometimes tell them to leave.

There comes a time....or not......in the search where an understanding

occurs that that which it trying to escape is nothing other then the

imaginary confinement.

It has to be more then merely an intellectual understanding.....it has

to percolate down through and infuse itself into the very being of the

entity.

Identification with a separate self looses its hold and the opacity of

isolation decreases.

There come ....or not.....the realization that any methodology

undertaken by the illusory self to improve itself is merely spinning

its wheels.

Meditation will not help a group of thoughts (you) become something

that exists only as a thought (enlightenment).

Most seekers are just not ready to hear stuff like this.....They seek

out teachers that sweeten the truth....and become addicted to the

chemical rushes, the flashing lights and all those warm love feelings.

Here's the real low down:

That which you think you seek........will kill you.

Nisargadatta was very potent.....and very few people went to sit with

him.......No one would have sought him out......if he didn't water

down what he knew.

Any advise from a master offered to seekers is palliative care.

Meditate if you are so inclined......and after you butt aches long

enough....and you have enough ethereal euphorias (that you will try

and try again to duplicate)....you will once again be as you once were.

or............

well........I guess we will see..........
