Guest guest
If being happy meant wearing rose colored glasses. . . would you do it? .. . . Knowing that ultimately both pleasant dreams and scary nightmares are unreal; would you wish scary nightmares to your children? Or, would you still wish them . . . sweet dreams? This is how I see the " outlook " that sees goodness in everything. It surely keeps you happy. . . And, of course, there are glasses of many other 'colors' too. Many even pretending to 'free' of any color - yet, on little closer examination none of them are found really 'free' of all colors... By their fruits you shall know them. . . [ NNB ] As long as your lovely children keep falling to " sleep " ; they would keep getting dreams. Knowing this, would you teach your children on how to avoid nightmares and maximize sweet dreams - or, would you keep 'repeating' that neither nightmares nor sweet dreams really exist? How can you teach someone to aceept [or to do anything else] in dream? If they " can " do something about it - are they still asleep? > > Stefan >

First of all, please re-read my message. I have not used the word " teach " . I simply have said: I would try to help my children to accept both, Sweet dreams and nightmares. As part of their lives. You talk about teaching I talk about helping You talk about avoidance I talk about acceptance The avoidance has to take place when the dream comes The acceptance happens when the dream is over So, you can accept a dream But you cannot avoid it It is impossible, because dreams cannot be controlled. They happen. And what is so bad about them? They have an important function In the process of dealing with All the dimensions of life It is your discrimination Between nightmare / sweet dream Between unhappy / happy Between thorns and roses That creates the unease The fear of the unavoidable There is more in life for us Than only searching for happiness And sweet dreams When my children had nightmares I took them into my arms And told them that it was only a nightmare. I did not teach or preach that Next time they have to avoid it. By teaching your children avoidance You teach them to stay in constant fear Of that which has to be avoided But in reality is unavoidable And they know it And you are teaching fear of fear One cannot avoid life! One cannot avoid death! Help your children to accept (under-stand) But first of all try yourself to accept Watch your children! Learn from them how they often so naturally Under-stand and accept The accepting comfort a loving father (after his child wakes up from a dream) Provided in a silent hug Is a million times more valuable Than to teach avoidance Which is teaching a futile task Stefan
