Guest guest
I identify feeling such as the feeling of the " Oouucchhh!! " which results immediately from hitting a stone as physical pain. Whereas, I call things like depression, stress, worry, anxiety, victimhood as suffering. I also identify long lasting fear, anger, hate, jealousy, greed and long term discontentment as suffering. Once I wake up and as long as I stay awake and I am not in a deep meditative state, I have always noticed some kind of " juice " flowing in my body. I identify that " juice " as hormone. Incidentally, this is also the same thing that I identify as 'ego'. This is what gives me a feeling of " me " . This is what gives me the feeling of 'separation'. This is what gives me the feeling of " life " . Without this juice flowing, there is no feeling of separation. Without this juice flowing; there is no feeling " me " ; there is no feeling 'doer ship'. In a way, I feel this is " juice " is what makes me do whatever I do. From reading scientific articles, I gather that there are certain hormones that body automatically generates in the morning and their production falls down during night, dropping to an extremely low level when duriing deep dreamless sleep. ---- http://www.nutrition4health.org/NOHAnews/NNW02HardingAging.htm Case study: A dramatic example of what a derangement in the circadian rhythm of cortisol can cause is illustrated by " Melissa. Guest guest
When my outlook is positive, when my thinking is positive and this juice [ hormone] is flowing in the body - I call that feeling 'pleasant'! Depending on the intensity of the juice within; I sometimes, call it exhilarating. I feel it as 'energy', as 'drive', as 'motivation', as 'inspiration', as 'creative force'. I feel it invigorating. I feel charged up, energized and I feel like running to meet the life. But, when my outlook is negative, pessimistic, bleak and my thinking dark - exactly same juice [as far as I can tell] feels as pain. If it is quite intense - it feels like excoriating pain. It feels like a punishment. It feels like " suffering " and this is the only " suffering " that I have known. Dark outlook, dark pessimistic thinking while this juice is flowing in the body. And, no matter what the thoughts, an increase in thoughts usually increase the intensity of this " juice " and vive- versa. Guest guest
Most of us already know how just because of our different " outlook " and " belief " ; sky diving, bungee jumping, roller coaster rides look adventurous, fun and greatly exhilarating in spite of having many elements of terrors. In fact, it is precisely those moments of terror [and possibly the hormones that the body generates in their response] that makes them so deeply rewarding. Just because our " outlook " is different, just because our mind believes something 'positive' - the " juices " that would otherwise feel disabling and deeply painful; now feel exhilarating! http://www.stressbusting.co.uk/articles/news_fantasies.asp 'Before you go sky-diving, you think, " That looks like fun, it's so cool " . So you decide to go up and then you're in the plane at 3,000 feet, standing in the doorway. Now you have something called terror. You would like to commit suicide.' It gets worse. The moment you jump, you have no control of the situation, you imagine all the things that might go wrong, and it generally feels horrible. 'Then you pull the rip-cord. The moment you do, that second that the 'chute opens, you feel, " This is so great " . All that terror turns to excitement. You turn what I call " bad adrenaline " into " good adrenaline " and it only takes one second. It's all the same adrenaline, but the difference is that with the bad adrenaline, the level of control you have is zero.' > > > When my outlook is positive, when my > thinking is positive and this juice is > flowing in the body - I call that > feeling 'pleasant'!
