My poem was born with a serious defect in the penumtimate line. I

can't let it go uncorrected--even though it may go unread.Again:

The big cherry tree

bloomed with such success

and so completely

that without motive

without giving a damn

it started killing passersby

and killed and killed

all day long.

Ah, that feels so much better. Not an original idea--and I am sure I

have come across better like it--but I don't recall any of them so I

have no bad conscience and anyway plagiarism ,while not beneath me

exactly ,would be silly in these circumstances.

P: Rest at peace, since ancient times no one has said

anything new, but everytime you repeat a phrase

it's never, exactly the same. No one has ever waded

twice in the same thought.

Ha, ha. Did I plagiarize Heraclitus (The Obscure)?

Trees at Night

When at night, I walk under big trees,

They're not the same as in daytime-

changed, they bloom with gravitas,

exude the perfume of mystery,

whisper things I don't understand.
