Guest guest
However, I saw that the Awakening and the Self Recognition hadn't changed me as a 'person' that much neither they have changed my 'way of being' in the world that much. No doubt, my ability to be lam, peaceful and happy had increased tremendously and meditation had become effortless, natural and spontaneous for me. Yet, in most of my personal and professional life, I was often driven by same 'self interest' as before. I wondered if that was the only way it could be. As a result of being mostly driven by 'self interest'; I was still very fallible to reactivity, anger, pride, greed, lust and vanity. I wondered if that was the only way it could be. Noticing that my happiness and peace was not really dependent on anything external; driven by same 'self interest', sometimes I would wonder why I was doing what I was doing as I really didn't need it for my own happiness. Then, I encountered quote, an article and an author that further changed my thinking: Quote: I don't know what your destiny will be, but one thing I know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who will have sought and found how to serve. ~ Albert Schweitzer Article: http://www.workingwithoneness.org/article_adyashanti.html Author: http://lessonsinawareness.com/powervsforce.aspx http://www.scribd.com/doc/6723/Hawkins-David-Power-vs-Force http://www.beyondtheordinary.net/drhawkins.shtml http://www.sedonacreativelife.com/pre0726.html After reading this author, I learned to question the intention behind my action. At any point, was I being driven by: .. . . . . . Greed, Fear, Shame, Guilt, Lust, Anger, resentment or Pride Or, Was I doing it because of my Intrinsic goodness, because of: .. . . . . . . Compassion, Kindness, Love, Peace, Understanding, Reason, Clarity and Intelligence I thought this question can work as very valuable moment to moment, day to day guide. And, imbibing this I see as the `beginning' of enlightenment. Doing the 'Consciousness's work' in place of being blindly, unconsciously driven by hormones, narrow selfishness and base animal instincts. > > When awakening happened to me, I > thought that I was physically dying.
