Guest guest
" So, if the I-thought is to be eliminated, who is that " I " ? Isnt the " I " , the source of the thought, the Self?? " ********************** First, try as you might, you will never succeed in eliminating " the I- thought. " You speak of it as though it were something comparable to excrement that the body needs to eliminate! Rather, Ramana encourages you to retain that thought. Rather, he says, " ...one should never relinquish one's self. " Now, think about this: If the source of, the root, of the I-thought is your Self, then eliminating that thought would require you to relinquish your self. Uprooting your self would kill you. I know, I know. Some will say, " But, I want to be uprooted! My ego must die! " People speak about the " death of ego " and weirdly get all excited over it, as if that were a good thing. It's a ridiculous idea. And not one person here who has ever written a single word on this white message board can prove to you that the death of ego is either possible or even a good thing. Because the moment they start writing, they have disqualified themselves as beings without ego. Their ego surfaces whenever they hit that 'Send' button in the bottom right hand corner of your screen. See it? of course you do! You'd be dead if you didn't. Or physically blind, in which case, you'd still be there, body-mind, to figure out how to hit that 'Send' button. So, forget the whole idea of " eliminating the I- thought. " Just live your life and enjoy it!!
