FUTURE KARMA To attain salvation man has not only to destroy his past Karma but guard himself against accrual of future Karma as well. If he lets it have its own way, his past Karma itself induces in him motivations for fresh acts that involve him in future Karma. Whatever strategy he may adopt to rid himself of the load of his past Karma, in his precautionary wisdom, as aspirant should see to it that no Karma is credited to his account at least from now onwards. For that, he must make a serious and determined attempt to put his free will to good use and hold the mind in leash. Thereby the mind will not be swayed away by the sense organs but can be so disciplined as to control an order the same sense organs to do its bidding and behave properly. It is not that all people are afflicted with all weaknesses like lust, greed, anger and the like. A person generally falls a victim at first to a single sinful temptation, which generates in its course many other defects in his character as a chain action. For instance, sex produces as its offshoots falsehood, hatred, treachery, etc, they, in their turn, irresistibly lead him to let his sense organs indulge in all sorts of vicious activities for the fulfillment of their evil aims. It is here that man’s free will and intellect should play their part. They should identify the main root of all these mischievous tendencies, say the sex weakness here, and concentrate on tackling it effectively first. They should control the mind most uncompromisingly and never let the concerned organ indulge in that sin. With that, all its concomitant weaknesses disappear and he can be carefree about his future Karma. The free will that has thus been trained to hold future Karma in check can then employed in a similar manner to work out the destruction of past and accumulated Karmas as well and effect the Release of the Jivatma from the bonds of all worldly entanglements. There is nothing that a determined and calculated effort cannot accomplish. Om Shantih Shantih Shantihi Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu To be continued… --------------- 2. SAI'S NEWS FROM THE TIME MACHINE: Chaitra 1878: H.H. Akkalkot Swami left the mortal coils at Akkalkot in Sholapur Distict. Chaitra 1908: Sri Kashiram Shimpi, a blessed devotee of Baba passed away. Chaitra 1922: Hemadripanth (Sri. Anna Saheb Dhabolkar) commenced writing Sai Satcharitra Marathi Script. ----------------- 3. SAI IN DREAMS: http://www.ettitudemedia.com These are the dream sequences and messages as received by SaiBaNiSaji From our beloved GURU LORD SAINATH OF SHIRIDI. In Anticipation that this feature will help in one's spiritual growth are hereby compiled from his personal Diary and presented to SAIBANDHUS. Translated and presented by RAGHU RAMAN SATULURY. FEBRUARY-1995: 25-02-1995 Yesterday, I was thinking about the type of people we come across in society. I prayed Baba to tell me as to what I should know and do in this regard. Baba had shown me in visuals with the examples of different people undergoing troubles and their associated pasts while advocating following the path of righteousness. - Children pulling on and living courageously even after loosing parents at a tender age. - A gambler lost everything in life and wandering around like a mad person. - A drunkard lying on the road senseless. - A person feeding his grandson in a silver plate while hesitating to - A miser constructing his house by digging pits in the neighbor’s land. - A person engaged in singing melodious songs of others even though he belongs to a different faith and thus establishing the universal divinity. - A person having absolute faith in God, humanity and having tolerance towards all religions. The underlying principles are the same in all the faiths. 26-02-1995 Considering to be born, as a human being is supreme, I prayed Baba to guide me to make a mark for myself in life. He has shown me with the following visuals- - Ideal friendship is very rare and only few have the privilege to enjoy it. Maintain till the end if you come across. - Mistakes are committed by everyone sometime or other purely due to ego clashes. Only wiser people see to it that they do not get repeated. Coming to realization should be everlasting. - Spiritually marriage symbolizes the happy union of two souls. That should not be polluted. - Happiness comes as a result of the fruits of good faith in Guru. Do not forget the Guru afterwards. - Happiness comes to mind and body only when the stomach is full. Think for those who have no food to eat and if possible share food with others. Self-realization leads to happiness. To be continued….. ---- 4. QUINTESSENCE OF SRI SAIBABA'S PHILOSOPHY: (By Late Sri Bharam UmamaheswaraRao) " Shashi " : shashi_31 29. Is Samsara Really Necessary? Then Chandorkar asked: Joys and sorrows of Samsara disturb one so much. Should we not renounce Samsara? To which Baba answered: Joy and sorrow are mere delusions. Mere experiences of worldly joy are not true happiness. The worldly man is forcibly drawn to it, as he believes it to be true happiness. According to the Prarabdha of each, one gets Panchamrita, one gets rich food, the other gets poor food. The person who gets rich food thinks that he lacks nothing. The person getting poor food thinks he is unfortunate and is a sinner. But the result of eating any of these is to satisfy hunger. Some cover themselves with costly shawls, others with torn clothes. Both serve the purpose of covering the body. This joy and sorry is due to opinion, which is mere illusion and is ruinous. Whenever any idea of joy or sorrow arises in mind about Samsara, resist it. Do not give room to it. It is pure delusion. Baba further explained to Chandorkar: Lust, anger is delusive. They make the unreal appear as real, so one must conquer waves of passion. Otherwise they will enslave you. The pleasures and pain will no longer hold as way over you. To be continued….. ----------------------------- 5. SANATANA DHARMA & SHRI SHIRDI SAIBABA. Know the Self as lord of the chariot, The body as the chariot itself, The discriminating intellect as charioteer, And the mind as reins. The senses, say the wise, are the horses; Selfish desires are the roads they travel. When the Self is confused with the body, Mind, and senses, they point out, he seems To enjoy pleasure and suffer sorrow. -Katha Upanishad Just as rivers flow from east and west to merge with the one sea, forgetting that they were ever separate rivers, so all beings lose their separateness when they eventually merge into pure Being. -Chandogya Upanishad NEWS ---------- www.newsday.co.tt SCARBOROUGH, TOBAGO, April 20, 2007: Tobago's first Hindu temple is being established with funding from the National Commission for Self Help Limited. DEVOTEES EXPERIENCES: jn.laxmi Mon, May 7, 2007 12:05 am I want to share my experience with all the Sai Devotees. In the last year September, my father was very ill suddenly his health got affected as he stopped smoking suddenly. One night around 11 pm he fell down and could not recognize me and my mother. We were not having at least 10 Rs in hand to take my father in the auto to doctor and it is night 11 pm. really everybody says that god is there He will help! He will help .....seriously in my father case god Sai helped. So around 11pm we called my father friend and explained him the situation of my father. Normally he will not be available because of his busy schedule and that day luckily he is just near to my home. with his help we admitted my father at hospital. He was admitted for 10 days day by day situation is becoming worst as my father is not eating anything. Then one day I came home to take food for my father and saw my father tulsimala and rudraksha which was there before baba...out of uncontrollable tension, I cried before baba very badly and believe me my father health started improving bit day by day and doctors said he can be discharged from hospital. Now he is fine doing with the grace of Baba going to temple and coming he is able to do his work. Really I saw Baba!! Usually at night times I used to see my father for 5 to 10 times whether he is sleeping or not, how is his health and all...and suddenly one night I saw Baba came walking and sat beside my father and kept his hand on my father shoulder. Really I saw him what to say about Baba miracles. Really my father health is cured by Baba only. Baba you are great. -------- sanjaypal On 5/13/07 Sairam, I want to share you a small experience. One night I had a small dream sequence of Baba's Chavadi procession, with all the devotees performing aarti & started to carry Baba to Dwarkamayi, while he was walking I was with other devotees, I put my hands on the ground to take his blessings and Baba Placed his feet on it and proceeded to Dwarkamayi, It was really a lifetime great experience, where one cannot forget. Sanjay Pal -------------------- 7. SAI WITH CHILDREN: http://www.saidarbar.org/HTML/portraits/7.jpg Smt. Madhu Gopal Ravada, Saidarbar, Hyderabad. Hello Children! I am Madhu aunty. Do you know Baba use to play with children and used to tell stories to them? I felt children visiting Saidarbar should be entertained with good stories. Now I want to tell the stories what heard in my child hood. THE WHITE ELEPHANT: Once there lived a white elephant in the foothills of the Himalayas. He was a magnificent creature and ruled over thousands of elephants. Unfortunately, he had an aged and blind mother whom he loved very much. He lovingly took care of all her needs. Once the elephant got annoyed with his subjects over their selfish behaviour. So he left them one night and went with his mother to the far Mount Candorana. There they lived happily in a secluded cave. One day a hunter, who lived in Banaras, lost his way in the forest. For many days he wandered about but could not find a way out of the dense forest. In desperation, he started crying aloud blaming his luck. The elephant, whose cave was nearby, happened to be out for feeding. He heard the hunter’s wailings and went near him. The hunter, seeing the huge white elephant, tried to run a way in fear. But the elephant allayed his fears, and asked him his story. The hunter told him that he lived in Banaras and was lost in the dense forest while hunting. The elephant comforted the man and lifting him on his back took him out of the forest. The hunter went back safely to Banaras. Here, in Banaras, King Brahmatta’s royal elephant had died only recently. The King announced a big reward to anyone who could let him of an elephant grand enough to be fit for a King. The greedy hunter went to the King and told him about the magnificent white elephant who lived on Mount Candorana. He led the King’s men to that place. From a distance, though the thickets, they saw the elephant gathering lotus shoots for the blind mother. The elephant got the scent of the men standing in the distance. He immediately guessed who had brought them there. He said to himself, “what ungrateful creatures men are!” Now, this elephant was a mighty creature. He could have crushed all these men to death if he had so desired. But he was a noble creature. He hated violence. So he decided to let himself be captured and taken to the King. He decided that he would request the King personally to allow him to go free. That would save a lot of bloodshed. The men captured the elephant and brought him to Banaras. He was kept in the royal stables and given the best food. But he did not touch anything. The keepers of the royal stables got worried. If he did not eat anything he would soon die. So they reported the matter to the King. King Brahamdatta himself went to the elephant’s stable. He offered choice green shoots to the elephant with his own hands. When the elephant still refused to eat, the King asked him why he was not eating anything. The elephant replied “Your Majesty, I cannot eat anything. You see, my mother is all alone. She is at Mount Candorana. She is old and blind. There is no one to feed her or to take care of her. She is sure to die. How can I ever touch any food when my mother is such a condition?” The King was deeply touched by the elephant’s sentiments towards his old and blind mother. He had never seen such devotion. He at once decided to set the elephant free and said “O great elephant, you are indeed a worthy son. Go back to your mother and look after her. She needs you more than I do.” -------------- 8. SPIRITUAL GEMS FROM SAI SATCHARITRA swamymain On 4/22/07 Cholera Epidemic SSS: Once, Cholera was raging virulently in Shirdi. The residents were much frightened and they stopped all communication with the outside people. The panchas of the village assembled together and decided upon two ordinances as a remedy to check and put down the Epidemic. They were (1) No fuel-cart should be allowed to come in the village, and (2) No goat should be killed there. If anybody disobeyed these ordinances, they were to be fined by the village-authorities and panchas. Baba knew that all this was mere superstition, and therefore, He cared two pence for the Cholera-ordinances. While the ordinances were in force, a fuel-cart came there, and wanted to enter the village. Everybody knew that there was dearth of fuel in the village, still the people began to drive away the fuel-cart. Baba came to know of this. He came to the spot and asked the cart man to take the fuel-cart to the Dwarakamai. None dared to raise his voice against this action of Baba. He wanted fuel for His Dhuni and so He purchased it. Like an Agnihotri keeping his sacred fire alive throughout his life, Baba kept His Dhuni ever burning all day and night; and for this He always stocked fuel. Baba's home, i.e. the Dwarakamai was free and open to all. It had no lock and key; and some poor people removed some wood from there for their use. Baba did not grumble about this. Baba saw that the whole universe was pervaded by the Almighty, and so He never bore enmity or ill-will to anybody. Though perfectly detached, He behaved like an ordinary house-holder to set an example to the people. SSG: Sai Ram. When Cholera struck the village earlier, we saw how Baba ground the wheat flour and asked the four women to throw it on the outskirts and helped the village to become disease free. Sai always knew that even when an epidemic came, only those whose karma allowed it, became sick and others were not harmed. He had total faith in Lord. So, He did not care for the rules of the village panchas. By buying the fuel, He helped the poor villagers to keep the fire in their hearts going apart from the dhuni, which He kept going always to burn our karmas in that fire. Sai Ram. We will continue with this chapter in the coming weeks. Sai Ram. S.V.Swamy Author, Editor, Proof-Reader and Book Reviewer www.freewebs.com/swamyreviews ----- 9. ARTICLES FROM SAI DEVOTEES: arunreddy_n On 5/15/07 Giving up narrow ideas and feelings, people should show compassion towards their fellow-beings. Compassion is the hallmark of Bhakthi (devotion). No one can hope to please God without showing Daya (compassion) towards his fellow-men. A loving heart is the temple of God. God cannot dwell in a heart without compassion. There is nothing greater in the world than Prema-drishti (feeling of universal love). They alone are good who see the unity in the apparent diversity. Men have to realize that they are sparks of the Divine. They have to develop sacred thoughts and lead ideal lives. They must seek to promote the welfare of society.
