Guest guest
I know that Eckhart Tolle charges as much as 75$ for a seat--but only for those seats that are up close to the heat of his Shining.I know that many self-less teachers live very upscale and hold their satsangs on tropical islands or at least someplace nice and warm all year where there is a Hilton nearby.I have noticed that there are many satsangers who have girl or boy friends and this is always a complicating factor. What the teacher would not think of taking for himself he will take without qualm for the sake of his " life companion " .Also a lot of the satsangers are young--some not too far out of their teens. They probably hope to eke out some kind of living teaching and avoid a life of hard and dull labor thereby. Some others are up in years and have spent most of their lives banging the head against this matter and now they are old and have learned something at least and they are really in need of help. And some charge because there are halls to rent and refreshments to pay for. I am afraid that if I had the gift of teaching--utterly distinct, seems to me, from the gift of insight or wisdom--and lots of people wanted to hear me and were thronging my gate pretty soon I would be charging them for the privilege of my presence too.Such is life.
