What is it but gift from one end to the other, in the all and in

detail.In some poem I read there was a line--a pretty good line in the

context of the poem: the long littleness of life. I have another line

that I like better: the great givenness of life.

That sounds a little subservient......as if the giver were separate

from the receiver.

And now as good a time as any to express appreciation for

the deep and thoughtful quality of these short contributions

of yours, Tom. There is a taste of immediacy in them, and

always fresh, never trite.
