Tonight I was sitting as still as I could get. Aware of my face.I

think: What face? Feels more like a mass or plane of vibration or is

it tension? What vibration? What tension? It's just...what it is.

What " my " ? I don't see any " my " here at all.

it's not tension.

plane of vibration is right.

you've described a visit with Now.

where " my " gets left at the door.

The short exchange below reminds me of something I've also been experiencing as of late. Just about every morning I, along with my cup of coffee, go outside to our jacuzzi, take off the cover, and slip nakedly into the warm water. After taking a sip of coffe, I lie back and relax. I immediately take notice that the sensations of warmth on my face and a brightness that comes from the sun is shining down on me. I hear the birds chirping and now and then a car going by....and the rare helicopter flying overhead. Sporadically a dog barks and then, on occasion, a second dog barks at that the first dog's barking.

As I relax more and more physically, and especially let my attention and eyes go "soft" (i.e., unfocused on any*thing* in particular), I begin to notice that there are merely, just, simply, and only "sensations" appearing and disappearing. Some seem "steady or ongoing", but they too, when "felt into" are seen to be transient and ever changing. Words/names, like "hand", "head", "arm", "water", etc evaporate and are replaced by "tingling sensations"...and along with them, the usual sense of "me"....the "feeler", "thinker", etc. There's this "humming/vibrating" field that completely envelops "me"....which is more like a "witness" or a "witnessing" tham a "solid" obeserver. Occasionally it seems as if the "hummingness/vibratingness" and "that" which is noticing/registering it are not two, but one and the same.

Excuse my enthusiasm, but

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That maps perfectly to what I have been calling the " aliveness " .

Your description is great... even the part at the end about

witnessing not being a " solid observer " .

I have tried to describe that as a " sparkling " quality, what

you describe as sensations appearing and disappearing. I've

tried to describe it as a " vibrance " . But your description,

being less abstract, more grounded, I expect would be more

readily understood.

Here's a quote from Niz that a few years ago pointed out to

me that the " livingness " as he calls it is a kind of indicator

of really being present:

Surely, the memory of an event cannot pass for the event

itself. Nor can the anticipation. There is something

exceptional, unique, about the present event, which the

previous, or the coming do not have. There is a livingness

about it, an actuality; it stands out as if illuminated.

There is the 'stamp of reality' on the actual, which the

past and the future do not have.

Every morning.......I slip naked into the warmth of the day......that

which is......laps at my chin......the show begins and a parade of

beautiful......smiling characters.....flow past.

Every night........I slip naked into the warmth of my bed......wait

for while in the quite...pregnant darkness......the curtains open and

the parade of beautiful smiling characters stream past who I am......

and I watch........amazed.
