Guest guest
What kind of thought is the " I " thought? Must be something powerful about it that it can be so tirelessly recurring throughtout the day, everyday. No sooner is there waking in the morning than it is there. It appropriates every action, every emotion, every decision-except those actions and emotions that are attributed to others. Is it a simple thought? Or is it a cluster? If it is a cluster, what is the power that attracts the participating thoughts into a cluster?Maybe it is that attractive force we mean when we say " I thought " or " ego " and all the thoughts (thoughtlets?) that make up the " I " are nonessential, secondary, expendible--like the leaves are to a tree? I wonder if it is possible to know the ego--that energy of attraction--in the same way you know, say, a strong surge of sexual desire or food-lust? Or the way we know the body--I mean as a simple image, available and not at all subtle.I mean, does the ego--that shapeless mass of thousands (?) of images have one image that sums up the whole? And if we could answer any of these questions, would we be better off at all? Or would it be just adding more convolutions to the gordian knot?
