Guest guest
Ramana Maharshi said to a visitor " When thought is quiet then you remain alone " . And indeed, I am afraid of remaining alone and therefore thought is constantly babbling from early morning till late night. And 90% percent of my thoughts are inner dialogs with people not being present. And thought never gets quiet because I fear remaining alone. Guest guest
Hi Werner, here comes another inner dialog: and what Ramana did not know, that now one can get a virtual dialog partner for free, which makes the inner dialog feel even more realistic oh fear, oh aloneness... why does it take so much courage to be what we are? It ain't a soul reality ...nor asshole reality. human beings are a facet(and nothing more) of " THAT " . there is nothing unnatural nor unholy about human or animal functions. you miss the forest for the tree..SOUL for 'souls'/'psyches'. THAT which IS, is Unfathomable, Complete, CAPACITY. " IT " contains ALL, neglects nothing. all imaginary nothings neglect " THAT " ... being hung up on 'this'. 'this' being all discrete discriminations of thought and apparency. being here, on this forum, has nothing to do with imaginary choices. even you have said this. in my thought this is indicative of saying that all are ONE. in your way of thinking (in accordance with Libet's studies in 'physical' neuro-motor respose time), it is YOU who are trying to reduce human beings to the status of a robotic slug..a reducing to none other than that physical organism that you now say should not be done. what the hell ARE you trying to say then? you can't have it both ways Werner. ..b b.b. Clear, Brilliant, Dazzling in Darkness most Profound. Sharing together the 'Lord's Supper'.. each day, night, moment most small. we ARE the moment. the peace beyond understanding. Timelessness Itself. sharing the much maligned bodies of the seeming Crucifixion. a Crucifixion of Fictions that render All Free. Being.. the point of non-understanding standing right before our eyes. when Rooted in THAT..all previous rootings of 'identity' lose their mystical hold on the 'point' that never was or will be.. an Adumbration of the Real that is KNOWN as Self. ..b b.b. In fact, it's probably impossible unless the brain has been severely injured. But the ability to stop thinking for a few minutes is possible if one trains the mind to pay attention to bodily sensations, or a landscape, or a tree, or whatever grabs your attention easily. A quiet mind is not a mind without thoughts, but a mind in which thoughts don't stir emotions, desires, and actions. In the quiet mind thoughts, like well behaved children, don't disturb the peace. Hi Zero Of All Souls (nice to see you here), yes, it must be the fear of dying, the master of all survival tools... and maybe dying is the ultimate manifestation of aloneness. Just a Sunday morning thought :-) Stefan

I suppose that the reason why thought is constantly babbling was established long ago when the child did compensate it's fear of being alone by talking with objects like dolls ets, or by talkng with mom or dad not being present, or by talking with other people not being present, or by talking to Jesus, God, elfs and similar fairy figures. And what else is thought then talking silently ? It is so easy to say that the fear of remaining alone is just a thought. But this fear of being not nurtured and caressed, of having no company in case of urgent need, of being deserted is euivalent to a very real threat of death. We are social beings depending on each other. That's why our survival strategies are so closely related on others, on being attractive, surrounded by poeple seeking one's friendship. You know all these, Stefan, so there is no need to go on ith enumerating all these survival strategies of our cunning minds. And all those strategies not to get confronted again with this fear of remaing alone, of havíng to die, is reflected in this constant babbling thought. Guest guest
As has been said: we are alone whether we like it or not. That is what is meant by non-duality.The world is one. You can't experience anything but yourself. You are always dealing with your own feeling.Etc. Anyone can repeat this stuff. Who feels it? Everything you experience is yourself.Your Big Self. This does not mean that the body you call you is the tree in front of it. It means that both tree and body are experiences of Big Self.Big Self experiences things by becoming them.By being them.It knows by being. How to see this?Well.I guess all you can do it sit still and look. And the only way you will do that is when you despair of every other approach which seems more fun and promising. Why do I return to this tawdry life of separation? Why do I forsake Oneness to go back to my thoughts? Isn't it obvious, Sir? You dream you own your life, You dream you own your thoughts, while Oneness And its grandeur that no one can own. Pete

Z > Z, I like it. Your sword cuts to the chase there Zorro. I can read and repeat, read and repeat and get it, and believe it and even know it is all a joke but it will never be enough. As for little Joe here, despair is full blown but the door through is slammed shut. And I can't get that fucker open. But I will say this: living in despair is certainly better than hoping to be saved. Joe
