Guest guest Posted October 15, 2007 Report Share Posted October 15, 2007 Namaste, Saw a documentary on BBC over the weekend about Gandhi's walk in India, the salt making etc. It bore out everything that I said about oppression today of the Dalits, and the living conditions. It showed the middle classes in their new shopping centres and the Dalits in their slums and shacks. It showed the bulldozing of the Dalits home to make way for high rised and shopping malls, even in places that Gandhiji gave talks etc. It showed the middle class disparaging Gandhi and saying he isn't relative today, for nobody can succeed without bending the rules etc etc. There are more poor percentage wise now than under the British Raj. The conclusion the documentary made was that India now suffered under a new colonialism; The colonialism of itself in the form of the expoiting middle classes................No further comment required.....Tony Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
