P: Yes, I have tinnitus (ringing in the ears) so

I haven't heard silence in years. It's odd to know

that this ringing I hear so clear, is not real. I mean,

no one but me can hear it. How is this ringing

different from a voice in the brain that tells that

I am insane? Well, this ringing has no meaning,

it's a monotone. So, it's easy to ignore, most of

the time, I am not aware it's there, unless it flares

up in volume. If it were a voice telling me things,

even if it were good things, it'd be difficult to

ignore, it'd be upsetting.

But think about it, the only difference between

tinnitus and hearing voices is meaning, and

the only difference between hearing voices

and thought, is sound. So why don't you

consider yourself crazy when you think

without wanting to?

Yes, Pete,

So simple and so true ...

This is THE question of all questions.

But I am afraid no one on this list here and I think also not on

other lists really is interested in it because it is much easier and

much more satisfying to talk about love, peace and bliss or about the

glory of one's spiritual attainments than to find out why the hell

one can not end this constant chattering of thought.

P; Because it would be a sort of death, would not it?

Without no thoughts, no Werner, Mark, or Pete. I don't

need Pete to be around all the time, so I can go without

thoughts for minutes, or hours, but most can't

stand that for even 30 seconds.

A strange question when you know that thinking without wanting to is

all that ever happens anyway--the wanting to is just more fortuitous

thinking. Z

And Pete, Mark and Werner by no means want to be alone because they

are the representatives of all those survival strategies, especially

regarding one's social security of family, friends, etc.

This is found again in that simple statement of Ramana: " When thought

is silent you remain alone " .

And remaining alone is a threat of death. If one really remains alone

then there no longer is any need for that bundle of suvival

startegies called Pete, Mark and Werner.

oh i think anyone here could do without pete..

or thoughts about pete..

for a whole lot longer than pete evidently can.

that's also what pete can't stand.

the process he uses here is projection...

he projects unto others his inability to NOT think.

that's par for the course of course.

..b b.b.

Well guys, if you're through with all that thinkingism mechanism,

perhaps you could just remember the body-bliss. Remember the love.

....or is that what you REALLY all think about but won't admit it?

EH?
