I have lived a lot of my life this way, chasing and immersing in sensual pleasures and running away from physical/mental discomforts and pains. I have mostly found it a life run by hormones and conditioned thinking, lacking in Present Awareness and Clear Intent. I have also found it a life with fair amount of pain - some resulting from confused, 'hormone driven' actions and others because of the hormones themselves, because, most hormones do feel like 'pain' and an action originating in them is not an action originating in Peace! Depending on the day, week, month and hour, I still live plenty of my life this way. > > Or, > > B. Continuous confusion and continuous uncertainty > resulting into... continuous [mental] suffering. I have also lived plenty of my life this way and this kind of life was partly prompted by my reading of Osho and my experience with meditation. In what I read, Osho taught about not having any 'fixed' principles and values and I believed him. Further, as I went DEEP into meditation, in fact, I didn't find any inherent values or principles and I discovered that all of them were, in fact, 'made up'. Yet, living this way was quite confusing and was full of indecision. It was great, as long as I was in meditation, and, yes, I could be in meditation, even while working, talking etc. But, when I wasn't meditating, sometimes, it was a realm of confusion. Decision making was a very arduous, painful and often very long and painful... because of lacking principles and values to guide me. That is when I started looking towards a religion. > > > Alternative is a life lived according to > Christian or Islamic values.
