Guest guest
What is the difference between waiting and anxiety? Is it trust? When I seat at an airport wait for my flight and trust that the flight will be on time and it will be good - I am peaceful and waiting. When I seat at an airport wait for my flight and I read the announcement that the flight will be late and I think it will be bad to be late - I am anxious. When I am waiting for a friend to call me, a friend, whom I trust - I am peaceful and waiting. When I am waiting for someone to call me, whom I don't trust - I am anxious. When I post a message and wait for the reply, trusting that the reply will be what it " should " be - I am peaceful and waiting. When I post a message and wait for the reply, not knowing if the reply will be what 'I think' it " should " be - I am peaceful and waiting. So, perhaps, anxiety is waiting with fear, waiting with the 'speculation' that the future may not be how it should be, while, peaceful waiting is waiting without any speculation, knowing/trusting that future will be what it should be. Guest guest
Waiting or anticipating with peace or with anxiety; this is action and activity. " Sitting quietly doing nothing, the sun rises and the grass grows by itself " . Old Master of Zen When the old Masters recomended " Sitting quietly doing nothing " this recommendation is for me to follow. The first would be how to follow? my mind prevents it by anticipating or otherwise, the question is why this mind is always jumping from here to there? To answer that question, i have to know why these old Masters recomended that? The answer to that would be that i should see that " the sun rises and the grass grows by itself " . What does this mean? It means that there is no need of me, everything is Perfect, there is no need for the mind, everything is in a condition of Completion. i go to the airport, this is Completion in itself, to sit in the waiting room, this is Completion in itself, the plane comes, this is Completion in itself, the plane is delayed, this is Completion inself; because Completion does not rest or depends on items such as the plane comes or the plane is delayed. These old Masters were pointing to the Completion of the Experience, not my own indivifual fullfilment or satisfaction. hsin In Nisargadatta , " adithya_comming " <adithya_comming wrote: > > > > What is the difference between waiting > and anxiety? > > Is it trust? > > > When I seat at an airport wait for my > flight and trust that the flight will > be on time and it will be good - I am > peaceful and waiting. > > > When I seat at an airport wait for my > flight and I read the announcement that > the flight will be late and I think it > will be bad to be late - I am anxious. > > > When I am waiting for a friend to call > me, a friend, whom I trust - I am > peaceful and waiting. > > When I am waiting for someone to call > me, whom I don't trust - I am anxious. > > > When I post a message and wait for the > reply, trusting that the reply will be > what it " should " be - I am peaceful and > waiting. > > > When I post a message and wait for the > reply, not knowing if the reply will be > what 'I think' it " should " be - I am > peaceful and waiting. > > > So, perhaps, anxiety is waiting with > fear, waiting with the 'speculation' > that the future may not be how it > should be, while, peaceful waiting is > waiting without any speculation, > knowing/trusting that future will be > what it should be. >
