Guest guest
I define unconscious mind as the area of the mind, which is not in Present Awareness. As an analogy, consider being inside a very large sphere which surrounds you from every direction yet, at any one time, you can only see the limited area which is directly in front of your vision, because, your vision is limited. Now consider that forces from many sides and directions in the sphere that surround you, can operate on you, yet, you only see the forces originating from the limited area of your vision. Because of this limitation, you might attribute your " action " [and thoughts] that you see in your " limited " vision, even though, in reality, your action might be a sum total of all the forces, those in your Present Awareness and those which are not in Present Awareness! Thus, I don't see unconscious mind as something mysterious but just as the area of mind which is not in the vision/light of Present Awareness! Mind [with all its memories and conditioning] is bigger than what Present Awareness can directly see at anytime. And, what makes its vision even more " limited " is the fact that many time, this present awareness itself is unavailable because we are busy mulling over past or speculating over future, thus, partially/fully unaware of what's happening in the Present - and, when that happens what is Unconscious [Out of sight/out of Light/Out of Awareness] becomes even bigger! I wonder why otherwise intelligent people complicate their lives with stuff like this. Z

Z dear Z, an intelligent person (by the conventional meaning of the term) would be aware of the simple fact that past, presence and future are all part of the " time-game " . The time concept. They are joined unbreakably: Without past and future, there would be no presence. Without presence there would be no time. Take either of the three away and time becomes unthinkable. Now use your intelligence: Past and future you call " ideas " . But " Presence " is the most stubborn idea. Stefan P.S. Are we not all a little bit " otherwise " ...
