Guest guest
M: Surely, the memory of an event cannot pass for the event itself. Nor can the anticipation. There is something exceptional, unique, about the present event, which the previous, or the coming do not have. There is a livingness about it, an actuality; it stands out as if illuminated. There is the `stamp of reality' on the actual, which the past and the future do not have.
Guest guest
Sorry, beloved Ramana. But the " actual " is a myth. And you know it!!! And the dialogue continues like this: Q: What gives the present that 'stamp of reality'? M: There is nothing peculiar in the present event to make it different from the past and future. For a moment the past was actual and the future will become so. What makes the present so different? Obviously, my presence.

Z there are so many of the age who know more because.. sages of 100 years ago didn't know anything. there was no one there to know anything...anyone...anyhow...any way. a few whippersnappers even NOW..are already gone. and laugh at all the 'things' the 'whos' and 'whiches'..'know'. they are made worshipers.. and the beat goes on. ..b b.b. Tom, I do not know if you have directed this to me, and if the sarcasm that I feel in your remark is actually meant. But in any case, please believe me: I know nothing. And I do not think that there is anything special about our age in this regard. Maybe you did not get the fine print in my posting. I have the highest respect for Maharaj. Words can be placed in so many ways... and can also be understood in so many ways. A real master is a verbal seducer, it was always like this... in a long tradition of darshanas. As I have already said: the mind tends to create beliefs out of everything. Maharaj was not talking to us to give us new beliefs. A master has really nothing to say, he only talks to catch our attention. Then it is easier for him to kill our beliefs. His task is to kill us. To quote a master out of context has nothing to do with the event that has happened. When you read the whole talk it may shine in a different light, maybe. No, it is not about knowledge. It is not about right or wrong. The reason he asks us to look into the " actual " is: it forces you to look at yourself. The actual, the presence, is in the one who looks, it can never be in the objects. This is the whole lalalum. He sayd it just in the next sentence, interestingly. It always ends at: look at the space from where you are looking. Now, who has already tried this? I am not talking about theories here, everything can instantly be tested.
