Thank you Steve! I consider all humans essentially alike i.e. we have same basic potentials. We vary only by degree and only by which potentials we actualize and which one we leave dormant. We vary only by which potential we choose to serve Moment to Moment. And, the most BASIC choice we make is to... be Conscious or not be Conscious. And, we make that choice Moment to Moment! [...] > Don't you have your list of gurus you like, from Adya to Katie to Hawkins to Ramana. When we learn Programming, we might read many authors... many of them with very valuable and useful ideas and insights... still, we don't blindly " follow " any of them! We simply thank them for their immense contribution and, refer to them, and, use their ideas, whenever, it is necessary and useful to do so. Gurus to me are more like 'scientists', researchers, experts and 'consultants'... i.e. gurus to me, are people with some useful information in a particular domain. Their ideas and advice in some area can be beneficial and can minimize the need for... 're-inventing the wheel'. I like Tolle's idea of Present Body Awareness I like Yoga's idea of Present Breath Awareness I like Ramana's idea of: - Peace is Realization - Nothing that " happens " is Real/Eternal - everything that 'begins' has to end - there is no realization event - Hold the thinker and... Abide as the Self. I like Gita's idea of Your right and responsibility is in Action alone and not in its fruits I like Katie's idea of doing investigation in response to stressful thought I like Nirmala's idea of thoughtless Forgiveness I like Adya's idea of focusing on 'serving' Enlightenment in place of trying to " achieve " or " keep " enlightenment . I like Hunag Po's idea that enlightenment and all related practices are merely to help us deal with practical concrete matters of life... i.e. they only involve learning... 'how to live'. And, I like the idea of Choosing COURAGE and thru Courage Love, Enlightenment and Reason over fear, greed, anger and lust... Moment to Moment. I think got this idea after reading Hawkins but, I don't think this is what he teaches. The most basic think that find missing in my daily life today is that Purpose, Planning, Focus and Discipline. I have done it for 3-4 weeks at a time but, not beyond it. I think doing that might require some acceptance [,that I CAN NOT do everything that I might want or wish,] and, some self-sacrifice [of things that I can NOT really do]. I am still looking for a good, effective way to do that. [...] > Do you have one Main Guru/Teacher or are you still eating buffets and liking it? Steve Currently, I am interested in learning purpose, planning and discipline and I have no guru [or " consultant " ] for that, at this moment. I have learned a lot from Tolle, Ramana, Krishna, Katie, Hawkins and I refer to them when I need...
