The everything just happens crowd...

The title is meant in humor, although perhaps you could say Ramesh-ji's

followers fall into this category.

So things just happen spontaneously, huh? Killers kill spontaneously.

But that doesn't mean we shouldn't have judges, because judging occurs

spontaneously, the killer's sentence is spontaneous, blah blah.

Can you see where this is leading? The only real response

to " Everything is spontaneous, it just happens " is " So what? " Who

cares? It makes absolutely no real-world difference, aside maybe from

assuaging guilt felt over one's actions, or being mis-used as

justifying one's actions (i.e. in the case of that killer saying 'I

have no free will, it just happened').

DOES " everything just happen'? That's the observation of the sages,

but just one observation among many. Hooking onto it as " truth " is

nonsense, it's just a spouting, a concept.

Peace...

It is spouting, and a concept--until one fine day you SEE it.Then it is

the most astonishing thing...and you can't imagine how anybody could

ever believe is the concept of choice. For anything to happen SOMETHING

HAS TO HAPPEN!SPONTANEOUSLY! Can't you see that? And seeing this

doesn't mean that you quit your job and drift--some do, but they would

have anyway probably.Who knows? Most of the time you go on as if you

did have choice--but it is a kind of ghost choice that vanishes when

you give it any attention. What it does free you from is getting

hatefully angry at anyone--at least not for long. It is like anger from

then on is a wooden sword. Z

Parrots do what parrots do. They repeat what they hear. If parrots

could read, I bet they'd sound alot like humans do when humans repeat

what they read. Can you come up with anything original?

Of course. Can you see it, or do you feel like you make a choice to

initiate actions and then perform them? As long as there seems to be

a 'chooser', that one is responsible for their actions.

But I can tell you don't care... if I was blind, deaf, crippled,

retarded and crazy I could still find something better to do than hang

out on a Nisardadatta mailing basically going " Googogahgah, weiner

butthole look at me. " To each their own, I guess.

It's clear you must have heard plenty of the above as a child/teen -

that sort of nonsense never had much effect here, and has exactly

zero now. Couldn't hurt to see a shrink & clear up some of that old

crap, particularly if spirituality is of interest; that stuff can

really be a 'barrier to entry'.

I pressed the keys really softly :-).

Since when are shrinks Freudian these days... there's almost none

left.

Hmmm...

By the way, it's not that I think shrinks are the answer. But why

would someone hang out regularly on a spiritual list NEVER talking

about Nisargadatta, NEVER talking Advaita, literally acting like

Beavis/Butthead - something could be the matter. I mean, why here?

Cheers...

Most of the time I don't think of it.I just live.It is like those

puzzles they give kids, " Find the hidden animals " --once you find the

donkey hidden in the leaves of the tree, you know where he's at

forever. You'll see him everytime you look at the tree. " Choosing "

actually, is a feeling and it arises like any other feeling and gets

felt.By whom? By THAT.Tell THAT about its responsibilities. Z

No, sadly thoughts/concepts are all rehash. Nobody's probably said

anything new about Nonduality in oh, at least 2000 years.

you're just like all the rest.
