These people do no trust either their parents or society, or even themselves.

All they touched turned to ashes.

Give them one experience absolutely genuine, indubitable,

beyond the argumentations of the mind

and they will follow you to the world's end.

Innate within the assumption of the autonomous self is the

religiosity that

answers the

nagging questions about its origin and destiny.

The self and the religious mind are one and the same.

The belief in a god or a guru is essentially the same

phenomena.....something

all knowing

that can save the poor supplicant from its delusional nightmare.

It is all a self reinforcing exercise that can be cut short if one

delves deeply

in the the

nature of self.

The root of delusion can be cut..........but not by some authority

that the self

invents.

It's time to give the gods and the gurus their bags.

Its time to kick their asses out.

One is doing its job and the other one is delving deeply into its nature ?Or is there only one self which does observe itself from moment to moment ?Or isn't there any self at all, and all that self-observation and delving deeply into it is just a delsuion caused by thought which maitains to be the doer, to be the observer, the inquirer, the investigator ?Thought is verbal and it is created by the brain in order to eventually get commnuciated like: Yada, yada, yada ...In reality there is neither an observer, nor a doer, nor a delver, or nany other agent owning a separate existence.Werner

Ok, Johan,

Also to you that question, who delves deeply into the nature of the

self, who is doing that ?

Are there two selves ? One is doing its job and the other one is

delving deeply into its nature ?

Or is there only one self which does observe itself from moment to

moment ?

Or isn't there any self at all, and all that self-observation and

Thought is verbal and it is created by the brain in order to

eventually get commnuciated: Yada, yada, yada ...

Sorry Werner but the post you replied to was a previous message from Toomie,

just a few

weeks ago. I posted that to remind him of his own delusions, and his dripping

The primary point of delving into the self is to realize that very thing; that there is no self. Did you come to that realization by delving into it, or did you read it somewhere?

Thanks, Johan,

Seems I was half asleep when reading your exchange with Toomb :)

And I am pleased that you share that view that one cannot delve into

the self because, first, there is no self, and there is also no

separate entity which would be able to do that delving.

Phil, I ask you:

Did you come to that realization by delving into it, or

did you read it somewhere?

And second,

What please is auto mechanics ? In German " auto " is a car, short form

of automobile.

You won't answer the question and you don't know what auto mechanics is? Are you playing with me, Werner?

Yes, car repair. It is delved into and things are learned about repairing cars. You don't abandon a career as an auto mechanic because there simply is no self to delve into auto mechanics. Or more to the point, you don't say. 'I know nothing of this so called auto you speak of, so how could it be delved into?'.......Or maybe that's what you just did.

No, Phil,

I don't play with you, why should I ?

I simple didn't know that you too use the word auto for a car, same

as we do in Germany.

Now about delving into:

Is there a difference between delving into auto mechanics and delving

into the self ?

Do you know the difference between a car and the self ? The car is

build of a limited number of parts, but how about the self ?

Does the self exist of parts you can investigate ? Or can you

reconstruct the self from its parts ?

Pour the self in a bucket, thouroughly shake it and then reconstruct

the self from the parts in the bucket :)

Can you show me some parts of that self ?

What indicates to you the existence of a self ?

Are Pavlovian reflexes of a dog caused by its self or make these

refexes the self ? Is the opening of a rose bud a Pavlovian reflex to

the morning sun ?

Are conditioned reflexes part of the self, or are they already what

is called the " self " ?

Can you watch a single reflex which now at this moment is not active.

Can you watch any characteristics of the self which at this moment

are not active ?

No, you can't - it is not possible. You can only know reactions which

are active and eventually learning how they do repeat, and that

learning is building the self-knowledge.

A delving INTO the self is impossible.

***I didn't say auto mechanics was precisely the same as self mechanics. I didn't mean to imply an internal combustion self, and your comparison is an insincere purposeful avoidance of the point. If there is a self to explore auto mechanics, why is there not a self to explore self?

Now, what this is that is ultimately exploring is the open question in self inquiry, and we're not trying to answer that question yet, we're still talking about whether or not it's possible to do. You have somehow concluded that it's not; that what is here exploring auto mechanics doesn't exist and therefore can't explore either self or auto mechanics. It's a little like running through the streets screaming "I don't exist!" If we're trying to identify what is nonsense, that one might secure a reservation for a padded cell.

Phil,

Is will the base of seeing ?

You see because you want to see ?

Can an earthworm see the beauty of a sunset ? Or must there already

exist all the predispositions which enable the seeing ?

Your philosophy seems a bit to simple minded. And in addition it got

the taste of moralism.

Are you a moralist, Phil ?

Hey... we're all drama queens here. As a matter of fact, I'd venture

to say we are the epitome of drama queens.

We know it and that's why we continue to play it out, anywhere we

can, eh?

P; Exactly! We know what we know, and

you believe what you believe. Why should

we trade knowledge for beliefs? We see, but

don't believe. " Seeing is believing " is a cliche,

not a true statement.

Question remains, who is it then that sees?

you ask me.
