Nisargadatta:..I talk about your true nature and your true nature is the sense of presence you have, this consciousness.....This sense of presence, this consciousness, is it not prior to anything else?.....The sense of presence does not need any activity of the mind to know that you are present.....The sense of presence, which has come spontaneously, will leave spontaneously. There is no individual except through identification with the body.....Find out how this consciousness has arisen, the source of the consciousness....Go within. Your normal inclination is to come out through the senses and see the world. Now reverse: "I am not the body, I am not the mind, I am not the senses."Then you are stabilized in consciousness. After that, all further things happen automatically..... Era

Ok, Era,

Where is this " within " and what is it ?

To be honest, have you ever gone within, or at least tried it ?

And did you succed ?

I myself have no idea what " within " means or what it is. And who is

that who will turn within ? It is thought which says " Now I will turn

within " , isn't it ?

Can thought turn within or can thought hear or smell or feel or see ?

Surely not.

Once in a Ramana forum I asked if someone could tell me what " within "

means. Six people answered and everyone had a different idea what it

is :)

I am afraid " Within " is just a myth and no one ever has been there.

Hi Werner,

" within " is spiritual slang for contemplation, meditation and I was

trained to meditate and

meditated 24/7 in India for a year at times, and I did succeed.

> I myself have no idea what " within " means or what it is. And who is

Practice is *also* outside of " thought " . I brought up a sport analogue

once to you to explain

the state of being with full awareness in the now, without judging,

thinking, or any kind stance ,

overlay and said it is like being in the zone in sports. Now again I ask

you to imagine, that you sit in meditation as instructed, in my case it

was Surat Shabd Yoga style, and do it just like you would

approach a tennis lesson.

From there being in the thoughtless 'zone' of a tennis match is not hard

to imagine, is it ?

Same with meditation, after many times of PRACTICE thought falls away,

body consciousness falls away, mind is left behind and one enters

WITHIN, dead to the world: that is why is termed Self-Realization.

Mind can; the house of thought.

Oh Lord.

If our own life experience isn't *meditation*, may as well give up and

go fish.

Era, I am not interested in being " fully aware " (whatever that is)

but I just wanted to know what the hell is " inside " .

Era, I never sit in meditation - it would be to stupid to do that.

Who is the meditator ?

Era, a " thoughtless zone " is something you must have read of and then

you started to hope or to believe you could enter it. Can day-

dreaming of a thoughtless zone enter that zone ?

Through some practice thought cannot fall away because the practicer

is thought itself: Thouht is practing to end itself - how ridiculous

all that is. Don't you see it ?

Era, I am not interested in being " fully aware " (whatever that is)

Who is the meditator ?

E: the one who is seeking ultimate refuge out of ignorance: suffering

Era, a " thoughtless zone " is something you must have read of and then

I play tennis, I know first hand.

You are addressing your understanding of me succeeding Tommy.

I DID LEARN HOW TO MEDITATE as I was instructed.

So yes, I did succeed

Tommy you are stalking me imo. Picking out one sentence from my posts

and trumping them !

I said the above to Werner in a 'Buddhist' sense.

I was taught yoga as a kid before I ever heard of seeking btw, what

you are trying to bring up..

And seeking is OK with me. I AM NATURALLY CURIOUS.

And I think you are becoming paranoid.

Toomie, I think you are the eternal optimist... thinking as if beLIEfs

had any validity... And of course, unbeknown to the lot of us, that

thought is just as (in)valid as the next one.

If you believe that a mirage can quench your thirst.............you are

mistaken.

If you believe that you can live on the sun......you are mistaken.

that's your belief.

if you believe that...

what is written in your post..

you are toombaru.

that's the same as being lost.

if you believe that you are not....

you believe in yourself.

what a misapprehension!

nice meaningless metaphors though toom.

just don't get hung up in figures of speech..

in which an expression is used...

to refer to something that it does not,

or literally denote in order to suggest a similarity.

now that would silly.

you shouldn't do that even though you always do.

there are no such things as mistakes.

'what is'...is never mistaken.

even if you disagree with it.

i disagree with what you wrote..

but neither that, nor your writing it, was 'mistaken'.

it is.

that's all.

relax.

:-)

..b b.b.

Hi Ho Marc,

Presence is always present and accounted for in any number of places,

it's a wild and crazy wo/man who succeeds in sorting it all out.

There's a bit of in sanity here.
