Guest guest
Basic cause of suffering is the thought, 'something is wrong.' Basic reason behind the thought, 'something is wrong.' is the unexamined stress. Unexamined stress remains stored in the body until it is clearly seen, examined and processed. This stress is basically unresolved memory and like an old pulsating wound it keeps reminding us to do something about it. And, like an old wound, its pulsating wound doesn't go away just because we think we have something more important to do. Like any real examination, examination of the old pulsating psychic wound of suffering begins with Acknowledgment (Acceptance), Surrender and Clarity. Acknowledgment in this context means acknowledgment of the background pain that we feel. Surrender is the surrender to the reality of this pain and our willingness giving it our full attention irrespective of what we might have assumed to be of more immediate importance than attending to this pain. Clarity comes when we consciously choose to remove all other issues from our mental space to devote our Full Attention to this feeling of 'something is wrong.' Upon close examination, what we might find quite perplexing is that behind this feeling of 'something is wrong.' often there is nothing; just a lack of Awareness that's all. Just as there is no reason behind the darkness, other than the lack of light, this feeling of 'something is wrong.' is simply born out of lack of Awareness. It is like a baby crying for Attention and just as in the case of a baby, we discover that its cry was just a means to get Attention and nothing else. This, however, doesn't mean that we can ignore giving it attention', because, it is 'no issue' at all; because, when we fail to shine our Attention on it, it will cry again. Just as the body needs food periodically, this baby needs full attention periodically. In the end, we discover that the cry of this baby is nothing but, the cry of our soul to return Home, the cry of our mind to return to Peace, the cry of the self to return to Self and to regain its masterful Position. We spend much of our time playing slave to fear, greed, guilt, lust and desire; all of which alienates mind from its root of Pure Awareness. Like a leaf, like a newborn baby removed from his mother, like a tree away from sunlight; the mind having lost connection from the light of Pure Awareness, starts experiencing pain. That pain is mind's cry to reconnect with the source of its Power: Pure Awareness. Full Attention is the way for the mind to regain that connection again. Once connected with that source, mind regains its Power again!
