Guest guest
I stumbled upon this searching for something else yoga related. I was intrigued by the non-duality concept I read; not entirely new to me.I had a mild epiphany of sorts the other day when considering this. I was thinking about words and how people use them and what are they really meaning when using words like " spiritual " and " God " I decided that spirituality, in my definition, is something about the process of coming to an awareness or an understanding that this thing called " Maya " or illusion has something to do with the belief that we are separate from others and things and the Divine and even the way we categorize various components indigenous to this which I sometimes refer to as myself. I decided that what I thought is wrong with my former religion(Christian) was that it reinforced the delusion of separateness: a sort of us against them(non-christians) mentality and some times even within their own ranks i.e. true X-tians vs. those who only think they are. One of the post said something similar to this regarding the problem of some religions and that was compelling because I thought I had come up with something kind of original. I have the experience sometimes of realizing that that which I am perceiving as being something other than me is really amounting to an awareness happening in my mind. At what point am I separated from this which I perceive as otherness? Kind of like wondering what happens to the light inside the fridge when I shut the door. Do things exist beyond my ability to perceive them and if so how would I know? lately, I've stumbled on to this observing the observer observing himself kind of experience when I meditate and in a way I'm wondering if this is even healthy. Seems like mental masturbation, spinning my wheels if you will. I like ideas related to the process of discovering True self in the way described by arriving firstly at an understanding of what I'm not kind of thing. Anyway, this seems like a good place to maybe explore some of this type of thinking and maybe exchange/engage in some meaningful dialogue with others. Hi.
