It can be all dramatic and such if one is interested in the drama, which one usually is, but the one anticipating a horrible agonizing death never existed to begin with, and the option presents itself to simply lose interest in it.

Nonduality tends to set one up for a trip to the void and a couple years ago, I went tumbling into it. It was a literal hell and I refused to even talk about it for months. At some point, I realized there is no void. I invented the mind state with my imagination and fear. The methods we find to torture ourselves are very creative and equally disturbing.

I discovered the void a few years back an interesting experience to say

the least. I think I have mentioned this before, that I suffered the

torment of existential anxiety. Deeply immersed in the void, I struggled

to find my bearings. Somewhere down the rabbit hole of that anxiety, I

eventually realised that I had a choice. I could choose misery or I

could choose joy. I made the choice to balance existential anxiety

(misery) with existential joy.

I believe the void I experienced was an illusion created out of the fear

of death and annihilation. I eventually came to the realisation thought,

hey if I'm going to be annihilated, I might as well enjoy it, which

enabled me to embrace the void, rather than fight it.

For me, literally what was my greatest fear was transformed into my

greatest strength, when I found the void of meaninglessness to be quite

liberating. I fall back on it now, whenever I feel overwhelmed. Ironic,

isnt it?

Zakly. For me, I fell into it repeatedly, and ran every time. I became convinced that if I could walk through it, 'something' real would emerge on the other side, so I worked up the courage to do that, and it never happened again, since it was a manifestation of my fear to begin with. Facing fears never defeats them, it just dissolves them.
