Guest guest
Attention confers reality on things. The more attentive you become to something the more real it seems. It's easy to test this. As you read this, the words seem very real, while the objects in your visual periphery are barely there. Now think of something while reading, and the words lose reality and meaning. If you concentrate on your thoughts, you would keep reading without understanding a word. No thing is more attention grabbing than pain. So, pain seems very real. Robbing pain of this reality is very difficult. We defeat pain by seeing clearly how pain is a moment to moment thing that can only last in memory. All sensations are like that, they appear in emptiness for a moment and are gone. Pay attention to emptiness, and all sensations become ghosts.
