APRIL-1996

19-04-1996

Sai appeared as an unknown person and said-

1. For spiritual feasting and enlightenment,

one need not visit famous temples and Mutts. Go to a person sincerely inviting

you for a luncheon. Spiritualism automatically comes to the fore.

2. Do not engage in co-travelling with

everybody coming to you in the process of spreading spiritualism.

The journey to spiritualism cannot happen in

company.

20-04-1996

Yesterday, I was mentally disturbed. I prayed

Baba to grant me peace. Baba appeared in the form of a School teacher and said-

I am in knowledge of your past. Why crave for

name and fame even while spreading my philosophy. Adapt to life the way it

comes and accept things as they happen. Sense of dissatisfaction and

unpleasantness will automatically disappear.

In the morning by 08:30

AM, I was hospitalised in CDR Hospitals suffering with chest pain. The

board of Sai Shakti medical Hall greeted me at the entrance offering temporary

relief to me.

Certain things do happen without our control.

22-04-1996

Yesterday, I spent the day in the ICCU under

the care of Specialist Doctors. Sai appeared as a fakir and said-

I have saved you from the heart attack. Rest of

the life, you have to serve me. Gradually health will improve.

4. QUINTESSENCE OF SRI SAIBABA'S PHILOSOPHY:

(By Late Sri Bharam UmamaheswaraRao)

"Shashi": shashi_31

32.

Significance of Meditation

Preliminaries

to Meditation

Baba says: “If you meditate on Me with such

perseverance and concentration, you will get the results. Such people can get

over Maya or the ‘Trigunas’. I am responsible for well being of those who are

devoid of egoism and attachment. Treat pain and pleasure equally. Offer your

mind and buddhi to Me and then meditate with one pointed mind. Some of you are

inviting your own downfall by practicing sorcery against My devotees being

foolishly prompted by arrogance, jealousy and hatred. All of you must meditate

on Me, with firm faith that I am the father and mother of this Universe. Know

that I am in those who meditate on Me, with complete faith, and then they are

in Me.â€

Sri Sai Baba also says: “If one ever meditates

on Me, repeats My name, sings My deeds and is thus transformed into Me, one’s

Karma is destroyed. I stand by his side always.â€

It was Baba’s lookout to see that His nature

and attitude towards His devotees should be thoroughly well impressed upon the

devotees’ mind and look after their welfare. Baba had to repeat His efforts to

ensure the thorough fixing of these valuable truths and impressions in

Chandorkar’s mind. The most common and basic things one would include in the

list of ordinary man’s needs are water to drink and food to eat. By a kind act,

act of Divine providence, Baba provides these two to His devotees.

5. IN THE DAYS OF SHRI SHIRDI SAIBABA

Baba

Converted Shri Baba Sahed Bhate into a devotee

Shri

Balasaheb Bhate and Shri Nanasaheb Chandorkar were college friends. Shri

Balasaheb Bhate was sceptic. He first came to Shirdi in 1894. He was a

Mamaltdar at Sakori. A saint by name Bhau Maharaj came to Bhate. The Sant made

Keerthan about Kabir and Kamal. Bhate heard this attentively with keen

interest.

Afterwards

he came to Shirdi and Baba made him to stay in Shirdi for six months on leave

and he has not gone to duty even after six months. His superior (Personal

assistant to the Revenue commissioner) came to Shirdi and asked Bhate to rejoin

duty. Bhate told him that he put down his papers for ever. From that time, he

left his post of Mamaltdar.

Kakasaheb

Dixit, Nanasaheb chandorkar and Madhava Rao Deshpande (Shama) requested Baba as

they were very anxious about Balasaheb’s family after giving up his job. Baba

told Balasaheb to write an application. Bhate filled an application as he

served for 13 years as Mamaltdar for pension. By the Grace of Baba, he got a

pension of Rs.29/- per month without any trouble. Then onwards, Bhate

turned into a staunch devotee of Baba.

Baba

cured the pain in the eyes of Shri Tatya Saheb Noolkar and gave him Satgati.

Shri

Tatya Saheb Noolkar when he was sub-judge at Pandharpur, he had a pain in his

eye and gone to his brother who was a Doctor at Jalgaom for treatment. After

having known that Gurupournima has to take place with in two or three days, he

started immediately without any treatment to his eye and came to Shiridi.

He

lay down in his lodging with pain in his eyes. When he came to Baba for

darshan, Baba told Shama in His own characteristic way “Shama, My eyes are

giving trouble and that I am suffering much from painâ€. From that time when

Baba uttered these words, the pain in the eyes of Shri Noolkar has disappeared.

Then Shri Noolkar remained in Shirdi, till his death. During the time of his

death, Baba gave Udi and Thirtham to drink and gave Sadgati to him thereby.

6. DEVOTEES EXPERIENCES:

From

the files of Saidarbar

SaiRam

all,

I am

SAI CHAND; I am a devotee of SAIBABA. I have a lot of experiences with

SRI SHIRDI SAI BABA. I used to share an apartment with another guy while I was

doing my Masters. I lost my apartment key. On that Thursday, I had an early

class in the morning from 8AM

to 10 AM. My room mate was leaving to go to his office the

same time I was leaving. He (my room mate) comes home only in the evening. I

asked him to give his keys to me as I would be done with my class by 10 AM and would be at home in the evening. I also told him

that I would make a duplicate key for my self. However, he refused to give his

keys. I was hurt because it was a small favor that I asked him. After I

finished my class I stayed the whole day at some other place.

To

my surprise, when I came in the evening, I found a cop talking to my friend in

our apartment. Do you know what happened? While my friend was returning from

the office into my apartment, someone mugged my room mate and stole the

apartment keys from my friend. My friend lost only his apartment keys-nothing

else. The mugger scared my friend by showing his gun. I think Baba doesn't

tolerate people who are not nice to His devotees. HE takes care of us in every

way.

7. SAI WITH CHILDREN:

http://www.saidarbar.org/HTML/portraits/7.jpg

Smt. Madhu Gopal Ravada, Saidarbar, Hyderabad.

Hello Children! I am Madhu aunty. Do you know Baba use

to play with children and used to tell stories to them? I felt children

visiting Saidarbar should be entertained with good stories. Now I want to tell

the stories what heard in my child hood.

THE TIGER AND THE GOLD BANGLE:

One day a rich merchant was passing through a

dense forest. As he walked down the path his solid gold bangle shone on his

wrist. A tiger was hiding in the tall grass by the path. As the merchant came

near enough, the tiger pounced and killed him. After feasting on the merchant’s

flesh, the tiger did not know what to do with the gold bangle. He kept it with

himself any way. After few years, the tiger grew old and weak. He could no

longer chase a prey. He started thinking of some way to get his food. He

remembered the gold bangle he had. He thought, “I have heard that human

beings are very fond of gold. I must test and confirm this. May be I can lure

some passers – by with this gold bangle and then kill them. This way, I will

have enough to eat to survive the rest of the days of my life.â€

So the tiger took the gold bangle and sat by

the path that ran across the forest. As he had thought, he lured many people

with the gold bangle and ate them up. Now he had found a good idea to eat the

tasty flesh of human beings. He made it a routine. In this way, he began to

live a happy life. One day a clever but poor man named Krishna was walking down

the forest path. As he walked on, he heard a voice from the tall grass by the

path, “My Dear man, will you stop for a while and hear me out?†Krishna looked around, but

could see no one near the trees or bushes. Then his eyes were blinded by a

flash in the grass. He stealthily walked a step nearer. To his surprise, he saw

a tiger in the tall grass. He held a gold bangle in his paw. Then fear gripped Krishna’s heart and he

stepped back. The tiger said, “Don’t fear my friend. Come here and take this

gold bangle.†Krishna said, “Do you take me for a

fool? You are a well known ferocious animal. I can not come near you to lose my

life.â€

But the tiger insisted, “Your thoughts are true

because every one knows that tigers are violent animals. But look at me now. I

am not strong any more and my paws have lost the sharp nails too. I have killed

many people and animals in my life. Now I am old, I want to die without any

burden of sin. I gave up my violent nature. As repentance I want to give this

gold bangle to any man. You are lucky to have come down this forest path

today.†At the tiger’s honest sounding lecture, Krishna grew thoughtful.

He thought, “If this tiger has given up his violent nature then there seems to

be no danger in approaching him. Further more, I am a poor man. The gold bangle

which the tiger is offering can help me a lot.†So overcome by

greed and losing his ability to think, Krishna went to the tiger.

The wicked tiger waited till Krishna came near and then

pounced on him. Krishna died instantly and once again

the tiger was able to fool a man due to his greed for gold.

8. SPIRITUAL GEMS

FROM SAI SATCHARITRA

Chapter

XXXI

The

Passing Away In Baba's Presence of - (1) Sannyasi Vijayanand - (2) Balaram

Mankar - (3) Noolkar - (4) Megha - and (5) The Tiger.

In this Chapter Hemadpant describes

the passing away of certain persons and a tiger in Baba's presence.

Tatyasaheb Noolkar

A brief summary of the account that

appeared in the Sai Leela magazine about Tatyasaheb is given here.

Tatyasaheb was a Sub-Judge at Pandharpur

in 1909, when Nanasaheb Chandorkar was Mamaltdar there. Both met often and

exchanged talks. Tatyasaheb did not believe in saints, while Nanasaheb loved

them. Nanasaheb often told him the Leelas of Sai Baba and pressed him to go to

Shirdi and see Baba. He finally agreed to go to Shirdi on two conditions: - (1)

he must get a Brahmin cook, and (2) must get good Nagpur

oranges for the presentation. Both these conditions were providentially

fulfilled. A Brahmin came to Nanasaheb for service and he was sent to

Tatyasaheb and a fruit parcel containing 100 beautiful oranges was received by

Tatyasaheb, the consigner being not known.

SSG: Sai Ram. It was Sai, Who

arranged that parcel and Who thus pulled His devotee (though the devotee did

not know that he was a devotee at that time) to Him.

SSS: As the conditions were

fulfilled, Tatyasaheb had to go to Shirdi. At first Baba was much enraged with

him.

SSG: Sai Ram. Baba was enraged with

the atheist and non-believer in Tatyasaheb, not with Tatyasaheb.

SSS: But by and by Tatyasaheb got

such experiences that he was convinced that Baba was God incarnate. So he was

enamoured of Baba and stayed there till his death. As his end was approaching,

sacred literature was read out to him and at the last hour Baba's Pada-tirth

was brought and given to him for drinking. Baba on hearing of his death, said,

"Oh, Tatya went ahead of us, he won't be reborn."

SSG: Sai Ram. What a great way to

go? Tatya was indeed fortunate. Sai Ram.

Monday,

Sai Ram. I would like to share my appreciation

to the team of Sai Darbar on this happy occasion. I came into the fold of Sai

Darbar on 17th December 1999, when I met

Saibanisa in the marriage of Sai Bandhu Satulury Raghuraman's eldest daughter's

marriage at Ahobila Mutt, Hyderabad. Though Saibanisa

and myself are long time friends, I was not associated with Sai Darbar till

then.

Sai took a firm hold of my hand through Sai Darbar and has guided me and is

guiding me on my Spiritual Path. Even though the path is still full of ditches

and thorns and even though I keep straying to check out the detours out of my

curiosity, He never left me and is always keeping an eye on me and is taking

care of me.

Sai Ram. What can we do but to offer ourselves at His feet?

Things impressed me from this

From

The Editor’s Desk:

At the outset let me wish you and your family

members a very Happy, Prosperous, Healthy and an Eventful New Year-2009.

It is universal fact that Time and again is a

dynamic phenomenon. Time keeps flying and waits for none. It is amply proven by

the fact that ten years have passed from the time Saidarbar made a humble

beginning under the flag leadership of Saibanisaji way back on 25th December 1998. To bring to the

present stage was not an easy task, but the divine blessings of Baba and your

continued support all these years made all that difference to make both

‘Saidarbar and The Glory of Shirdi Sai-e-magazine’ to reach the present level

of popularity. Betterment is a continuous process and Saidarbar team desires to

uphold the tradition to serve the family of Shirdi Sai devotees with the same

vigour in the year ahead in 2009.
