FROM THE SATSANGHS OF SAIBANISA JI http://saibanisa.blogspot.com/ FOUNDATION STONES FOR THE SPIRITUAL LIFE 21. To lead the life on a good path, energy is needed to the physical body. One has to have his own ways and efforts to fulfil it. 22. While travelling in the spiritual path, beware of the people who try to deviate you from your spiritual journey. 23. To lead a peaceful life, you should maintain good relations not only with your kith and kin but also with your neighbours. 24. You should develop a helping nature so that others will follow you to help the underprivileged. 25. You should live amongst your kith and kin the way the Lotus plant survives in the muddy water with out having any attachment towards mud. 26. When you are doing the pooja rituals to the God, you will feel you are doing the routine job. But if you serve the Saints, you feel that you are nearer to God. 27. You will reach your destiny safe if you avoid travelling in the wrong path / avoiding indulgence in monetary matters / a pomp and show. 28. You try to understand your capacities and accordingly accept the work load. 29. There is no parameter in the Spiritual life; therefore you should lead spiritual life till your last breath. 30. It is your duty to analyse everyday progress and you should not have contentment in the spiritual life. Compiled by: Sai Sevak Smt. Rajeswari Kasturi. To be continued….. --------------- 2. SAI IN DREAMS: http://www.ettitudemedia.com These are the dream sequences and messages as received by SaiBaNiSaji From our beloved GURU LORD SAINATH OF SHIRDI. In Anticipation that this feature will help in one's spiritual growth are hereby compiled from his personal Diary and presented to SAIBANDHUS. Translated and presented by RAGHU RAMAN SATULURY. MAY -1996 11-05-1996 Yesterday, Sai appeared as an unknown person and said- I was the instrumental in saving you from certain disaster during the years 1985-1986 when you were almost bent upon association with all illegal activities. From now on, it should be an eye opener to dedicate your life in my service. Sai has drawn an action plan long time ago for the refinement process. 12-05-1996 Yesterday, Sai appeared in the form of a saint and said- You will recover well after bypass surgery and seek blessings from your mother. I shall accept alms from your wife. Big people will visit your house. Lord Dhattatreya swami will grant good health. You will be instrumental in carrying many on Saipath. Sai has forecasted the outcome of my surgery. 14-05-1996 Yesterday’s message from Sai in the form of a saint raised many thoughts in my mind. The police cannot catch the thieves hidden in your heart during night. You do not know what is going to happen on the Tennis tabletop. A famous tennis player would bless you with new clothes. Renowned Tennis star player Syed Modi will grace the occasion and bless. I concluded that surgery would take place during daytime. Doctors will perform operation on a table resembling that of table Tennis game. Famous Tennis star shall supervise the surgery and bless me. That very thought created lot of confidence and courage in me. The best team was organized for the operation. To be continued…... ----------------------------- 4. QUINTESSENCE OF SRI SAIBABA'S PHILOSOPHY: (By Late Sri Bharam UmamaheswaraRao) "Shashi": shashi_31 32. Significance of Meditation Preliminaries to Meditation How to Practice Concentration on God Daily? Meditation means that mind must get accustomed to the mind itself, instead of working else where. Your mind is always wandering hither and thither. By meditation, you can regulate it. Concentration is the method of revelation and also it is the method of realization. It reveals the nature of the object concentrated upon. If you concentrate on Me, I will come before you. You must realize that all objects in their Universe are external except God. You must shut out all external objects and they can be renounced thru meditation. In meditation, when you concentrate on God, you can develop disinclination for the external objects. The attachments to the external objects are obstacles to God-Realization. You must know that there are two sources of knowledge- one is senses and the other is Buddhi (Intellect). In between these two, the mind has its place. When you sit in meditation, you must be cautious whether your mind is under the influence of senses or Buddhi or both. Senses tempt the mind towards sense objects, while Buddhi guides the mind to think of the consequences. Generally our minds are controlled by both senses and Buddhi. This sort of duality is the obstacle for meditation. You cannot attain perfection in meditation, unless you can have firm resolve to reach God. To be continued……….. ----------------------------- 5. IN THE DAYS OF SHRI SHIRDI SAIBABA From saisatcharita Chapter XL In 1917 on the full-moon morning, Hemadpant had a vision. Baba appeared to him in his dream in the form of a well-dressed Sannyasi, woke him up, and said that He would come to him for meals that day. This awakening constituted a part of the dream. When he fully awoke, he saw neither Sai nor any Sannyasi. But when he began to recollect the dream, he remembered each and every word the Sannyasi uttered in his dream. Though he was in contact with Baba for seven years and though he always meditated on Baba, he never expected that Baba would come to his house for meals. However, being much pleased with Baba's words, he went to his wife and informed her that being the Holi day, a Sannyasi guest was coming for meals and that some more rice should be prepared. She enquired about the guest, who he was and whence he was coming. Then not to lead her astray and not to cause any misunderstanding he gave her the truth, i.e., told her about the dream. She doubtingly asked whether it was possible that Baba should come there (Bandra) from Shirdi, leaving the dainty dishes there for accepting their coarse food. Hemadpant then assured her that Baba might not come in person but He might attend in the form of a guest and that they would lose nothing if they cooked some more rice. Baba cured the fever of Shri Bapusaheb Buty Shri Bapusaheb Buty was once suffering from severe fever i.e. in 1905 for one month. He was not in a position to walk even. In this suffering stage, Baba called him to come to Him on some body’s back to the Dwarakamayi and given to him (seera) a variety of sweet, Payasam, Bajji, dal and made him to eat all these in His presence and returned him back to his lodging. Without any medicine, the fever abated. During this time, Baba was also fallen ill. But as soon as Buty recovered, Baba was also recovered. This shows how Baba also suffered along with His devotees in order to relieve them from their sufferings. Baba cured the pain in the leg of Shri Kakasaheb Dixit Shri Kakasaheb Dixit, on one occasion had suffered from pain in his left leg and he was not able to walk even for a short distance of one furlong. Baba started to go to Neemgaon. Dixit also accompanied Baba and returned back to Shirdi after walking a distance of four miles to and fro with his pain leg. During his walking, he has not felt any pain in his leg. Is this not due to Baba’s grace? ---------------------------- NEWS FROM SAIDARBAR – HYDERABAD Saidarbar-TV channel-Internet World TV On completion of one decade of Saidarbar movement, Saidarbar channel in Internet World Television is in operation from 12-02-2009. DEVOTEES EXPERIENCES: sambshre I have had so many experiences; too many to share here in detail. Suffice to say that Shri Sai Baba has been a true Sadguru - helping me to rid myself of pettiness, overcoming the ego and helping my personal growth and development (emotional maturity, spiritual realization and overcoming insecurities and fears). All we need to do is surrender completely to dear Sai and trust in Him. He knows what you need (often different from what you think you need!) and will slowly and surely changes your life for the better. Sadguru Sai works with love and deep caring; I have felt gently carried through the most powerful self-realization. Sai continues to respond when we call out to him. He watches tenderly over us at all times. Bow to Shri Sai - and Peace be to All Source: Saidarbar files --------------- 7. SAI WITH CHILDREN: http://www.saidarbar.org/HTML/portraits/7.jpg Smt. Madhu Gopal Ravada, Saidarbar, Hyderabad. Hello Children! I am Madhu aunty. Do you know Baba use to play with children and used to tell stories to them? I felt children visiting Saidarbar should be entertained with good stories. Now I want to tell the stories what heard in my child hood. Two Frogs in Trouble Once a big fat frog and a lively little frog were hopping along together when they had the misfortune of jumping into a pail of fresh milk. They swam for hours and hours hoping to get out somehow; but the sides of the pail were steep and slippery and death seemed to be certain. When the big frog was exhausted he lost courage. There seemed no hope of rescue. “Why keep struggling against the inevitable? I cannot swim any longer.†He moaned. “Keep on! Keep on!†urged the little frog, who was still circling the pail. So they went on for a while. But the big frog decided it was no use. “Little brother, we may as well give up†he gasped. “I am going to quit struggling.†Now only the little frog was left. He thought to himself. “Well, to give up is to be dead, so I will keep swimming.†Two more hours passed and the tiny legs of the determined little frog were almost paralysed with exhaustion. It seemed as if he could not keep moving for another minute. But he thought of his dead friend, and repeated, “To give up is to be meat for someone’s table, so I’ll keep paddling on until I die – if death is to come – but I will not cease trying – while there is life, there is hope.†------------- 8. SPIRITUAL GEMS FROM SAI SATCHARITRA swamymain Fri, Dec 26, 2008 at 12:11 AM Shri Sai Satcharitra Chapter XXXII In Quest of Guru and God - Fasting Disapproved. In this Chapter Hemadpant describes two things: - (1) How Baba met His Guru in the woods, and through him God; and (2) How Baba made one Mrs. Ghokhale, who had made up her mind to fast for three days, eat Puran-Polis. Then lo! The Guru at once came and stood before us, "What was the dispute about?" He asked and I told him everything that had happened. Then he said, "Would you like to come with me? I will show you what you want; but he alone, who believes in what I say, will be successful." The others did not agree to what he said and left him; but I bowed to him reverently and accepted his dictum. Sai Ram. The Guru discarded His disguise as Vanjari and came forth to lead, to guide. He was so kind that He was willing to give a last chance to the other three, but he also gave the caveat, that one has to leave the intellect behind to go further on the path. Sraddha, faith in Guru is absolutely needed. The journey cannot be completed without the total faith and surrender. Intellect can take us upto that point, but not further. Sai Ram. Then he took me to a well, tied my feet with a rope and hung me - head downwards and feet up - from a tree near the well. I was suspended three feet above the water, which I could not reach with My hands, nor which could go into my mouth. Suspending me in this manner he went away, no one knew where. After 10 or 12 ghatikas (4 or 5 hours) he returned and taking me out quickly asked me how I fared. "In Bliss supreme, I was. How can a fool like me describe the joy I experienced?" I replied. On hearing my answer the Guru was much pleased with me, drew me near him and stroking my body with his hand kept me with him. He took care of me as tenderly as a mother-bird does of her young ones. He put me into his school; how beautiful it was! There I forgot my parents, all my attachment was snapped and I was liberated easily. I thought that I should embrace his neck and remain staring at him always. If his image were not fixed in my pupils, I would like better to be blind. Such was the school! No one, who entered it once, could return empty-handed. My Guru became my all-in-all, my home and property, mother and father, everything. All my senses left their places and concentrated themselves in my eyes, and my sight was centered on him. Thus was my Guru, the sole object of my meditation and I was conscious of none else. While meditating on him my mind and intellect were stunned and I had thus to keep quiet and bow to him in silence. Sai Ram. What a wonderful leela did the Guru show? By suspending the pupil upside down, He at once inverted the vision and allowed the disciple to see the Inverted Banyan Tree (The Aswattha tree refered in the beginning of this chapter) upright. Also, outward vision was inverted to inward vision. The macrocosm was switched to the microcosn. By increasing the blood flow to the brain, the energy rising of kundalini was accelerated. By keeping him above the water, the Guru ensured that he was within sight of the mind but away from it, like a true jnani witnesses the world without getting affected. Thus a great yogic kriya was performed to produce great transformation in the disciple. How can any one go empty handed from such a loving school? Sai Ram. OM SAI RAM SAISUDHA ------------------ SAI IN DREAMS Sairam I would like to talk on the topic Sai in dreams. I will start today’s discourse with a request to accept my pranaams. I think the coverage of events will be more interesting to those who read Sri Sai Satcharita on regularly. Many people say that whatever incidents we come across are reflected in our dreams. But in case of Sai devotees it is totally different. I would like to narrate two of my experiences with Baba in my dreams I was under the impression that Sai does not know English. Very soon I realized that it was my mistake. In the year 1993, Sai appeared in my dream and gave me a white coloured drink. It was like starch solution taken out from hot cooked rice. I asked Baba what the drink was. Baba replied that the drink was called ‘BROSE’ by the English people. Suddenly, I got up from my bed after feeling the heat of the drink on my lips. Jotted down the word ‘BROSE’ on a piece of paper. Next day, I looked for the meaning in the 20th Century, Chamber’s Dictionary. To my surprise, the meaning runs like this- It is a Simple and nutritious drink made by pouring hot milk or boiling water into oatmeal and is seasoned with salt and butter. It means it is a drink prepared with oats. Thus Baba conveyed in the dream that He knew English language, by offering me the drink made out of oats. Thus He helped me in removing my inner ego. In 1995, through another incident Baba demonstrated that He had the knowledge of English. One night before going to bed, I prayed Baba to permit me to go to consult a Doctor in Hyderabad for my ailment. Sai appeared to me in the dream and said – “Beware; do not go to that Doctor, he will perform operation -Lapidation on youâ€. Next day, I looked for the meaning of the word Lapidation in the Dictionary. It read as ‘Punishment by stoning’. That meant the Doctor will stone me to death. So till today I have not dared to see that Doctor. Now even though not present in physical form, Baba asked for dakshina in dreams and collected it. This will be known by an incident that happened in my life. On 9th March, 1992, early hours of the day, I was sleeping in my sister’s place in Vishakapattanam of Andhra Pradesh. Baba appeared to me in the form of a person wearing a full suit and goggles and addressed me-“You came to Vishakapatnam, gave money to your would be son-in-law and their parents, but nothing to meâ€. Give Me five Rupeesâ€. I took it as my luck. On the same day in early morning, at 6:00 AM, I was waiting to board a train on the platform at Visakhapatnam Railway station. I was on my return journey to Hyderabad waiting for the arrival of East Coast express. Sun was just rising in the East. I noticed a man dressed in a suit wearing goggles coming from the other end of the platform. He sat on the same bench on which I was sitting and waiting for the train’s arrival. I recalled the dream in the morning, wherein I was asked a dakshina of Rupees five by Baba. I was wondering whether Baba had come for taking dakshina or whether it was my illusion. He may not accept on offering and may as well fight with me. So I, dropped a five Rupee note, near his feet and I addressed him, Sir, a five rupee note had fallen down from your pocket. He bent down and picked up the note, and smilingly walked away, towards other end of the platform and soon disappeared. To me, it can’t be anybody else other than Sainath who laughed over my ignorance. In chapter -40 of Sri Sai Satcharita, Sai made us to realize that He is always present among His devotees. In the year 1917, Baba appeared in the dream of Hemadripanth in the form of a sanyasi on the festive day of Holi and said that He would come to their house for lunch. Exactly by lunch hour Baba came to Hemadripanth’s house in the form of a photograph and we all know about the incident. During the month of March, 1996 on a Sunday, Baba appeared in my dream as my former Chief Executive, and said that he would come to my house for having lunch. I informed my wife in advance as she has to prepare extra food. She made fun of me and jokingly said “you have no acquaintance with your chief Executive. How can you expect him to come for lunch and why at all he will comeâ€? I had firm faith in Baba that He will never let down His devotees. Baba graced the house of Hemadripanth in the form of a photograph. However, I was not in a position to forecast the form in which Baba will come to my house. I was eagerly waiting for Him without taking food. In those days my wife was a beginner and was not having full faith in Baba. She waited up to 1’O clock in afternoon and had her food. I waited up to 2:30Hrs in the Afternoon and with a heavy heart went to the dining table for taking food. It was just five minutes after I started with my lunch, Sri.Sattiah, a Tradesman of our company came in and joined for lunch with me. He later told me while having lunch, that on completion of the First shift in the factory, he felt that he should have lunch in my house. I was happy when he told me that he was hungry and wanted to eat in my house. I took it as a great fortune serving Baba who came to my house in the form of a Tradesman to have food with me. These happenings further strengthened my wife’s faith in Baba. In chapter-6 of Sri Sai Satcharita, Hemadripanth said-“A ship will sail a safe passage with the help of Sadhguruâ€. Baba conveyed the same message to me through a dream on 6th March, 1993. Now I will tell you the details of that dream. I was pedalling a three wheeler cycle Rickshaw with my wife and children seated, slowly because of the rough road. In the mean while it started raining heavily. The path was not clearly visible and my children did not like slow movement and had got out of the rickshaw. My wife was picking up a quarrel and hurt me with harsh words. I was not able to proceed further. An aged colleague of mine came to me and offered help to push from behind and said that “I will help you till the last breathâ€. I fully believed that the aged colleague is none other than Sai. I would like to tell you a very important message given by Baba to me in one of my dreams. â€You need not go to Haridwar for having the darshan of Lord. Open your manodwar i.e., gates of your mind, you can find Sri Hari thereâ€. I used to remember these words whenever I get a feeling that I am not able to go on pilgrimage. If somebody questions me in this kaliyuga is there a God who attends on call. I would like to humbly submit that it is only our Sadhguru Shirdi Sai Baba. Let us all together pray Lord Sainath and reach our destined goals. We can get more information from Saibanisa's discourses on “SAI IN DREAMSâ€.
