SaiRam,

SAI AS LORD RAMA

I request you to accept my humble pranams as

Saibanisa.

Hemadripanth had scripted very nice words in

Chapter-6 of Sri Sai Satcharita and said “When I was reading Ramayana, I could

feel Sai’s presence at every stage.â€

Let me focus on the subject and try drawing

similarities between ‘Rama in Ramayan’ and ‘Sai in Sri Sai Satcharita’.

Whenever we pray Sai we utter ‘Siva, Rama,

Krishna Maruti Adhityaya’ in our mantras. Lot of importance is therefore

attached to Maruti .Who is this Maruti? According to Darwin’s theory,

man has originated from ape man. Maruti is considered as the king of

monkeys.

What is the relationship between Sai and

monkey? I was searching Webster’s Dictionary for the meaning of the word

SAI. Monkeys are addressed as Sai in the forests of Brazil, in South America.

Therefore we can conclude that Sai is an ape man dating back to Lakhs of

years.

Let us recollect what Baba said in the court of

Dhulia Baba said-“My age is Lakhs of years. People call me as Sai. My

father is also Sai. My caste is that of Gods and my religion is Kabir.â€

Let us go back to Balakanda. There are events of

blessing couples with male issues. King Dasaradha in Ramayana was

constantly grieving as he had no male issues. The same situation is found in

chapter-14 of Sri Sai Satcharita. Ratanji Shapoorji wadia from Nanded was

having no male issue in spite of having health, wealth and all worldly

comforts.

In Ramayana, Vrushyasringa maharshi made king

Dasaradha to perform Putrakamesti yaga and God blessed him with four sons. Baba

in Sri Sai Satcharita blessed Ratanji Shapoorji wadia with a son.

Everybody agrees undisputedly that the important

character in Ramayana is Kaikeyi. Without her character, Sri Rama would not

have gone in exile.

However I have a feeling that more than Kaikeyi,

her servant maid Mandhara is more important for the turn of events. But

for her, Kaikeyi’s mind would not have got induced with bad intentions.

Mandhara was a lady deer in her previous janma.

She had a daughter and son-in-law. One day, the couple was happily doing rounds

in the forest. Kaikeyi maharaj was on a hunting spree. He killed the male deer

with an arrow and took the dead deer away. The female deer went and pleaded her

mother to free the body from the king Kaikeyi maharaj and bring him back to

life with the Sanjivani herbal in her possession.

The mother deer approached Kaikeyi maharaj and

said-“Maharaja, you have killed my son-in-law, no doubt it is in line with

Kshatriya dharma. However I pray you to release the body of my son-in-law, so

that I can restore his lifeâ€.

But Kaikeyi maharaj refused and took the body of

the male deer along with him. The Mother deer then struck a bad omen for the

Kaikeyi maharaj. She said, “You are responsible for the death of my son-in-law’

and so I will become responsible for the death of your would be son-in-law in

the futureâ€. So saying she left.

Later Kaikeyi maharaj celebrated marriage of his

daughter Kaikeyi with King Dasaradha. In those days it was customary to send

servants along with their daughters after marriage. Mandhara accompanied

Kaikeyi as a servant maid to Ayodhya. Further events are well known to every

body.

We can come across similar happenings even in Sri

Sai Satcharita. In chapter -46 of Sri Sai Satcharita, two brothers entered into

a dispute for property ownership, killed each other and were reborn as two

goats for seeking vengeance.

In chapter-47 of Sri Sai Satcharita, Chenna

basappa, Veerabhadrappa were also involved in a dispute over property. They

were later born as a snake and frog. In Ramayana, animals were born as human

beings to fulfil their vengeance and in Sri Sai Satcharita human beings are

born as animals to settle their disputes from the past janmas. Thus if you

perform bad deeds, you will be born as animals. Baba had also shown with

examples that- “If animals perform good acts, they will be born as human

beings. Lakshmi Khaparde started from the life that of a cow and later served

Baba.

Sri Rama upheld the values of Kshatriya dharma

by offering protection to Vibishana even though he hailed from the enemy’s

camp.

Baba also upheld the values of Kshatriyadharma in

spite of Nana’s background. Let us go into the inner details of the incident.

Baba had enacted the role of Tonga and the Tongawala. On the borders of Jamner,

Tongawala in the early morning hours offered breakfast to Bapugir bua. However

Bapugir bua was a bit hesitant as he appeared to be a person hailing from other

religion. Please read carefully the contents of the chapter- 33 of Sri Sai

Satcharita. The Tongawala said, “I am a Kshatriya from Garhwalâ€.

So saying the Tongawala asked him not to exercise

any reservations and take the food. Baba in Dwarakamayi said that he always

speaks the truth, When He went as a Tongawala accompanying Bapugir bua, He said

that He was a Kshatriya from Garhwal, Mainatayi totally surrendered to him. Nana

who had once criticized Baba was now praying and seeking protection. In this

case Baba followed the Khsatriya dharma by protecting Mainatayi and Nana sahib

chandorkar.

Sri Rama being himself a Kshatriya upheld the

values in accordance with his dharma. My personal feeling is that even Baba

might have belonged to the Kshatriyas, as He had addressed himself as Kshatriya

from Garhwal while in the role as Tongawala. Once again I would like to appeal

to all Sai devotees that this is purely my personal conclusion.
