FOUNDATION STONES FOR THE SPIRITUAL LIFE

41. The good words spoken

will attract good friends, relatives and fortunes. The bad words uttered will

create enmity and lead you to suffocation. So it is always better to keep

tongue under control.

42. You should be mentally

prepared to listen and accept the good words from the children, follow the good

deeds of your enemy even.

43. The physically

handicapped, ugly looking persons, uneducated persons and poor people are all

the creation of God. So do not neglect them if possible try to extend your love

and moral support to them.

44. If you walk along with

the antisocial elements, the society will feel you are also a member of that

group, so try to keep away from them.

45. The blessings you

receive from your parents and teacher are equal to the blessings from God.

46. Beware of the persons

who talk sweet in front of you and talk bad behind you. Such persons are even

more dangerous than the poisonous snakes.

47. If you are maintaining

good health, get good education, good friendship and exercise control over

senses, you are richer than richest.

48. Broad mind comes to the

fore ,the day you render moral support to the person who has committed sins and

repented over his mistakes and now leading in a right way.

49. The fire burns the

physical body whereas the fire called jealousy will burn the life itself.

50. The beauty what you look

through your eyes may by ugly to others, so try to look the real beauty with

inner eyes.

3. SAI IN DREAMS:

http://www.ettitudemedia.com

These are the dream sequences and messages as received

by SaiBaNiSaji From our beloved GURU LORD SAINATH OF SHIRDI. In Anticipation

that this feature will help in one's spiritual growth are hereby compiled from

his personal Diary and presented to SAIBANDHUS.

Translated and presented by RAGHU RAMAN SATULURY.

MAY -1996

Saturday-18:00 Hrs, CDR Hospitals, Hyderabad.

Everything went on well with the grace of Sai.

Operation was successfully performed. I felt as if I got a new life again and

reborn. By 10:00 Am in the morning slowly, I was able to come out of

anesthesia. Dr. Brahmaji Rao, the anesthetist was standing by my side. I could

see Parabramah in him. He cheerfully greeted me. Should I call your wife? Was

his question to that I replied that she should come with photograph of Sai? My

wife came in with the photograph. I offered HIM thousands of salutations. I

prayed that HE should continue to appear daily in my dreams and present with

messages and guide me in the Saipath.

I realized that I am born again and this life should

be totally dedicated in service of Sai and HIS devotees.

-Jai Sairam.

I vouch upon my parents Sri. Ravada Venkata Rao and

Smt. Ravada Venkata Ramanamma and my spiritual Guru Shiridi Sai and submit the

following words to Sai devotees.

Shirdi Sai in his own words declared that a Guru keeps

track of his disciple and escorts him from the past into the future. The true

words spoken by him to his devotee Shyama in Sai Satcharita read like-“Our

association is for the past seventy two livesâ€. Initially I could not believe

this statement; however the dream on 14-9-1995 removed my doubts and

established the veracity of the statement beyond any doubt. I concluded that

Sai certainly keeps track of his devotees in all their lives.

It is also told on a number of occasions in Satcharita

that there is no difference between Sai’s photograph and Sai himself. I fully

trusted the statement and taking a cue from Ekalavya taken a plunge into the

ocean of spiritualism.

For spiritual progress of the disciple, the Guru may

instruct directly or through the media of dreams. The same was mentioned in Sai

Satcharita-Eighteenth chapter as-

“Personally given spiritual instructions by Guru or

that given in a dream should be conveyed to all, as it is good, beneficial

knowledge-BABAâ€.

In my case Sai has adopted the media of dreams as a

means of communication and conveyed the spiritual messages. For the benefit of

fellow Sai devotees, I am herewith taking the liberty in presenting the

spiritual messages as received in the form of this book.

It is a daily ritual for me to be in meditation and

receive messages from Lord Sainath during the Brahmi muhoorath- (04:00-06:00)

hrs. I pray Lord Sainath to shower his blessings on my wife Smt.Madhu Gopal

Ravada for ensuring that I am not disturbed during the hours of meditation, my

friend Sri. Raghu Raman Satulury for his painstaking efforts in translating the

diary into English Language, and finally to Sri.SrinivasRao Kasturi for the

support services.

I hope that after going through this book, the readers

will ascertain for themselves the instructions passed on by Baba in those days

while in flesh and blood, to his devotees in dreamlike-‘Build a temple for

me-in the thirty ninth chapter’ and the messages given by Baba to Saibanisa in

dreams are out of the same phenomena stands true even now. Magnificently Baba

is proving one of his eleven assurances that-“My tomb shall speak and I shall

take care of my devotees from the Samadhiâ€

Lastly the dream is only a part of my life and my life

is not a dream in itself

-Jai Sairam.

In service of Lord Sainath.

4. QUINTESSENCE OF SRI SAIBABA'S PHILOSOPHY:

(By Late Sri Bharam UmamaheswaraRao)

"Shashi": shashi_31

32. Significance of Meditation

Preliminaries to Meditation

During meditation, if you merger your mind in Atman,

you will have ‘Atman-jnana’. With continuous meditation on God, you can secure

‘Supreme Vignana’. If you have complete surrender, the meditation will become

easy. Due to the desires of the world affairs in you, you are not able to do

meditation well. So know that during meditation Vairagya is most important.

Unless you have intense desire towards God, you will not have stability in

meditation. With full faith, if you meditate, that will remove all the external

thoughts of your mind and make it one pointed and you will have purity and

peace of mind.

With true total surrender, if you meditate your mind

will have concentration and also you will go into trance. During meditation

surrender your heart, mind and Indriyas to God completely. This total surrender

will lead you to true Meditation. If you think that God is outside you, your

progress will be retarded. To a devotee Vairagya is the main grip. If one

possesses worldly detachment and Vairagya, then only one can attain the fruits

of meditation. Only when your mind is pure, it can attain pure meditative

state. During meditation, you will not only get internal peace and happiness,

but also you will understand that all the worlds are in you. By doing

meditation, all your mind’s desires will be fulfilled. Meditate always with

Nistha.

5. IN THE DAYS OF SHRI SHIRDI

SAIBABA

FromSaisatcharita--Behaviour of Sai Baba--Chapter VII

HE got almost all the temples in Shirdi repaired.

Through Tatya Patil, the temples of Shani, Ganapati, Shankar-Parvati, Village

Deity, and Maruti were put in order.

------------------------------

From Saisatcharita--Madrasi Bhajani Mela--Chapter XXIX

It was in the year 1916 that a Madrasi Bhajani Mela

(Party of the Ramadasi Panth) started on a Pilgrimage to the holy city of

Banaras. The Party consisted of a man, his wife, daughter and sister-in-law.

Unfortunately their names are not mentioned. On their way, the party heard that

there lived at Shirdi in Kopergaon Taluka, Ahmednagar District, and a great

sage named Sai Baba, who was calm and composed, and who was very liberal and

who distributed money every day to His Bhaktas and to skilful persons, who went

and showed their skill there.

-----------------

Hanuman Jayanti is the birth anniversary of Lord

Hanuman.09-04-09

Lord Hanuman was born in Anjaneri (now a hilltop

temple). Anjaneri is near Triambakeshwar, Nasik - a pilgrim village in

Maharashtra State. He is the son of Anjani and Maruti, born with the blessings of

'Vayu', the wind god (also called Pavan). He is considered to be an avatar

(incarnation) of Lord Shiva.

He is one of the seven Chiranjivis and the only

learned scholar who knew the nine Vyakaranas. He learned the Shastras from

Suryadev, the sun god. He is well versed with the Vedas and other sacred books.

He has exhibited astonishing physical strength and

worked many miracles. His valour, wisdom, knowledge of the scriptures and

superhuman strength attracted everybody who came near him. He had extraordinary

skill in warfare. He is the chosen messenger of Lord Rama and the minister

& messenger of Sugreeva. Hanuman is fast, the most agile and oriented god.

Hanumanji is the symbol of Devotion and Service. Like

Krishna, Rama is an incarnation of Vishnu whose elevated character and

righteous actions are designed to inspire men to divine consciousness. In

liberating his consort Sita from the demon Ravana (symbol of material

illusion); Rama is greatly aided by the brave Hanuman. Hanuman was the chief of

the armies of Sri Ramachandra and took a prominent part in the war against

Ravana, the king of Lanka, in the Indian epic poem Ramayana. Hanuman helped

restore Sita Devi back to Sri Rama. Recognizing Godhead beneath the human

disguise, Hanuman consecrates himself wholly to service of Rama. Depicted in

kneeling pose of utter devotion and humility, he symbolized the strength and

purity of the Perfect Servant.

Hanumanji is known by many names as Anjaneya, Anjani

Putra, Bajarangbali, Hanuman, Mahaveer, Marutinandan, Pavanputra etc. Hanuman,

worshipped for his strength, valor, agility, is a man of great teaming.

Hanuman carried Sri Rama and Lakshmana on his shoulder

to Sugreeva, the king of all Vanars (monkeys) in Kishkindha and helped them to

find Sita. Prior to the war between Sri Rama and Ravana, Anjaneya visited

Lanka, met Ravana, created havoc and burnt down the city of Lanka (Lanka

Dahan). During the war, when Lakshmana was injured seriously, Sushena, the

surgeon/physician of the monkey army, dispatched Marutinandan to bring herbal

medicine, Sanjeevini, from the far-off Sumeru Mountain in the Himalayas, before

sunrise. Flying over the Himalayas and unable to identify the particular herb

fast, Hanuman uprooted and carried the entire mountain in time to save the life

of Lakshmana along with the rest of the Vanar army. Hanuman was blessed by Sri

Rama with immortality (chiranjeevi) at the end of the war.

Hanuman was a bachelor (brahamachari) and is

worshipped in all the temples of India. Every temple of Sri Rama contains an

icon of Hanuman. Worship of Sri Rama is complete only with the worship of

Hanuman. There are various temples dedicated solely to Lord Hanuman also. Sant

Tulsidas composed the 40 stanzas of Hanuman Chalisa in praise of Hanuman.

The worship of Hanuman symbolizes the worship of the

Supreme Lord, for acquiring knowledge, physical and mental strength,

truthfulness, sincerity, selflessness, humility, loyalty, and profound devotion

to the Lord. Students pray to him for intelligence and soldiers for strength.

In olden days, there used to be temples of Hanumantha, at the gates of forts.

The gymnasium of wrestlers invariably has his picture.

6. DEVOTEES EXPERIENCES:

monav

SaiRam!

I have seen the photos of Baba coming to me in

miraculous ways days after having read extensively on Shirdi Baba. On the way

to a pilgrimage, while speaking about these events with my sister, my sister

showed me his statue minutes after on the road near a residence after traffic

slowed down and yesterday thinking of him, I again saw a small picture of his

on the doorway of a bus as soon as I sat down inside.

I am very much astounded by the way he shows his presence each time we meditate

on him. We pray that Shirdi Baba enlightens our path and guide us in all

aspects of our life.

Also Congratulations to you people behind this marvellous website for all the

good work you are doing. May I request for a prayer for my auntie who is

seriously ill and for my getting into a new challenging international career.

Many thanks for prayers and support.

7. SAI WITH CHILDREN:

Smt. Madhu Gopal Ravada, Saidarbar,

Hyderabad.

Hello Children! I am Madhu aunty. Do you

know Baba use to play with children and used to tell stories to them? I felt

children visiting Saidarbar should be entertained with good stories. Now I want

to tell the stories what heard in my child hood.

The story of the Monkey

Construction of a temple was on outside a town. Near

the site, a huge wooden log was being split. At the lunch, the workers fixed a

wedge between the split wood and went to dine. A monkey had been watching the

activities of the workers since morning. When the workers were away, the monkey

descended from the tree and began to meddle with that log of wood. During the

play, he saw the wedge and began to withdraw it. But he forgot that his tail

was hanging between the split ends of the log. As soon as the wedge was out,

the split ends closed squeezing the tail of the monkey. The monkey tried hard

to get himself free but in vain. No help was available nearby. By the time, the

workers returned from their lunch, the monkey had died.

MORAL: Do not

meddle in things that don’t concern you

8. SPIRITUAL GEMS FROM SAI SATCHARITRA

swamymain

Fri, Dec 26, 2008 at 12:11 AM

Shri Sai Satcharitra

Chapter XXXII

In Quest of Guru and God - Fasting Disapproved.

In this Chapter Hemadpant describes two things:

- (1) How Baba met His Guru in the woods, and through him God; and (2) How Baba

made one Mrs. Ghokhale, who had made up her mind to fast for three days, eat

Puran-Polis.

Sai, who was Discrimination and Dispassion

incarnate, was one of the four. Being Himself Brahman Incarnate, some may ask,

"Why did He mix with them and act foolishly?" He did this for

attaining the good of the public, and setting them an example to follow. Though

an incarnation Himself, He respected a low Vanjari, by accpeting his food with

the firm belief that "Food is Parabrahma swaroopam as all other energies

are derived from food" and showed how those who rejected Vanjari's

hospitable offer suffered and how it was impossible to get Jnana without a

Guru. The Shruti (Taittiriya Upanishad) exhorts us to honour and worship

mother, father and preceptor, and to study (learn and teach) the sacred

scriptures. These are the means of purifying our minds and unless this

purification is effected, self-realization is not possible. Neither the senses,

nor the mind and intellect reach the Self. Modes of proof, such as Perception

and Inference will not help us in the matter. It is the grace of the Guru that

counts. The objects of our life such as Dharma, Artha and Kama are attainable

with our effort, but the fourth object, Moksha (liberation) can only he had

with the help of the Guru.

Sai Ram. As already mentioned, when the

disciple is ready, the Guru comes. Thus Sai was able to get the benefit from

the Guru, who was disguised as the low caste Vanjari. Sai was already beyond

the narrow perceptions of caste. He was established in Brahman and was thus

free from the bonds of the ritualistic, egoistic intellectual mind. Sai Ram.

In the Darbar of Shri Sai, many

personalities appear and play their part; astrologers come and give out their

predictions; princes, noblemen, ordinary and poor men, Sannyasis, Yogis

songsters and others come for darshan. Even a mahar comes and, making a Johar

(his salutation), says this Sai is the Mai-Baap (True parents), who will do

away with our rounds of births and deaths. So many others such as Jugglers,

Gondhalis, the blind and the lame, Nath-panthis, dancers and other players come

and are given suitable reception. Biding his own time, the Vanjari also

appeared, and played the part assigned to him. Let us now revert to the other

story.

Sai Ram. The player, the play and the

witness, all are aspects of Sai. Sai Ram.

9. ARTICLES FROM SAI DEVOTEES:

Tamil New Year 14-04-09

The months of the Tamil Calendar gains more

significance and are deeply rooted to the faith of the Tamil People. Some

months are considered very auspicious while a few are considered inauspicious

as well. The Tamil New Year starts in the first month of Sithirai, in the mid-April

every year. It is celebrated with much enthusiasm among the Tamil Community all

over the world. It is marked by gifting new dresses for the family members and

giving prayers to God wishing for prosperity among the people for the coming

year. The second month of Vaikaasi and the tenth month of Thai are considered

very auspicious and most of the marriages usually happens during those months

than the other months of the year. The third month of Aadi is considered

inauspicious that usually marriages do not happen in the month. It is usually

the worst month for thriving businesses and recently this situation has changed

a lot, as the businesses started providing discount shopping during that

particular month. The fifth month of Aavani is considered auspicious among the

Tamil orthodox people, and the special occasion of Aavani Avittam marks the

month.

The sixth month of Purattaasi is auspicious to the

effect that, most of the non-vegetarian Tamil people do not eat meat during the

month. The full moon days and the new moon days have considerable importance

among the Tamil people. One of the famous festivals, the Deepavali, is

celebrated on the new moon day, in the seventh month of Aippasi. The month of

Aippasi is usually characterised bythe North-East Monsoon in Tamil Nadu, which

has gave birth to a phrase, Aippasi Adai Mazhai meaning the 'Non-stop

Downpour'. The Festival of Thirukaarthigai is celebrated during the eighth

month of Kaarthigai. The ninth month of Maargazhi is characterised by the

winter in Tamil Nadu, and considered auspicious for maiden women to find their

groom. The tenth month of Thai is the month of Harvest in Tamil Nadu. The

festival of Pongal is celebrated to mark the harvest in the first day of that

month.

------------------

SAI AS LORD RAMA

I request you to accept my humble pranams as

Saibanisa.

Hemadripanth had scripted very nice words in Chapter-6

of Sri Sai Satcharita and said “When I was reading Ramayana, I could feel Sai’s

presence at every stage.â€

Let me focus on the subject and try drawing

similarities between ‘Rama in Ramayan’ and ‘Sai in Sri Sai Satcharita’.

Whenever we pray Sai we utter ‘Siva, Rama, Krishna

Maruti Adhityaya’ in our mantras. Lot of importance is therefore attached to

Maruti .Who is this Maruti? According to Darwin’s theory, man has originated

from ape man. Maruti is considered as the king of monkeys.

What is the relationship between Sai and monkey? I was

searching Webster’s Dictionary for the meaning of the word SAI. Monkeys are

addressed as Sai in the forests of Brazil, in South America. Therefore we can

conclude that Sai is an ape man dating back to Lakhs of years.

Let us recollect what Baba said in the court of Dhulia

Baba said-“My age is Lakhs of years. People call me as Sai. My father is also

Sai. My caste is that of Gods and my religion is Kabir.â€

Let us go back to Balakanda. There are events of

blessing couples with male issues. King Dasaradha in Ramayana was constantly

grieving as he had no male issues. The same situation is found in chapter-14 of

Sri Sai Satcharita. Ratanji Shapoorji wadia from Nanded was having no male

issue in spite of having health, wealth and all worldly comforts.

In Ramayana, Vrushyasringa maharshi made king

Dasaradha to perform Putrakamesti yaga and God blessed him with four sons. Baba

in Sri Sai Satcharita blessed Ratanji Shapoorji wadia with a son.

Everybody agrees undisputedly that the important

character in Ramayana is Kaikeyi. Without her character, Sri Rama would not

have gone in exile.

However I have a feeling that more than Kaikeyi, her

servant maid Mandhara is more important for the turn of events. But for

her, Kaikeyi’s mind would not have got induced with bad intentions.

Mandhara was a lady deer in her previous janma. She

had a daughter and son-in-law. One day, the couple was happily doing rounds in

the forest. Kaikeyi maharaj was on a hunting spree. He killed the male deer

with an arrow and took the dead deer away. The female deer went and pleaded her

mother to free the body from the king Kaikeyi maharaj and bring him back to

life with the Sanjivani herbal in her possession.

The mother deer approached Kaikeyi maharaj and

said-“Maharaja, you have killed my son-in-law, no doubt it is in line with

Kshatriya dharma. However I pray you to release the body of my son-in-law, so

that I can restore his lifeâ€.

But Kaikeyi maharaj refused and took the body of the

male deer along with him. The Mother deer then struck a bad omen for the

Kaikeyi maharaj. She said, “You are responsible for the death of my son-in-law’

and so I will become responsible for the death of your would be son-in-law in

the futureâ€. So saying she left.

Later Kaikeyi maharaj celebrated marriage of his

daughter Kaikeyi with King Dasaradha. In those days it was customary to send

servants along with their daughters after marriage. Mandhara accompanied

Kaikeyi as a servant maid to Ayodhya. Further events are well known to

everybody.

We can come across similar happenings even in Sri Sai

Satcharita. In chapter -46 of Sri Sai Satcharita, two brothers entered into a

dispute for property ownership, killed each other and were reborn as two goats

for seeking vengeance.

In chapter-47 of Sri Sai Satcharita, Chenna basappa,

Veerabhadrappa were also involved in a dispute over property. They were later

born as a snake and frog. In Ramayana, animals were born as human beings to

fulfil their vengeance and in Sri Sai Satcharita human beings are born as

animals to settle their disputes from the past janmas. Thus if you perform bad

deeds, you will be born as animals. Baba had also shown with examples that- “If

animals perform good acts, they will be born as human beings. Lakshmi Khaparde

started from the life that of a cow and later served Baba.

Sri Rama upheld the values of Kshatriya dharma by

offering protection to Vibishana even though he hailed from the enemy’s camp.

Baba also upheld the values of Kshatriyadharma in

spite of Nana’s background. Let us go into the inner details of the incident.

Baba had enacted the role of Tonga and the Tongawala. On the borders of Jamner,

Tongawala in the early morning hours offered breakfast to Bapugir bua. However

Bapugir bua was a bit hesitant as he appeared to be a person hailing from other

religion. Please read carefully the contents of the chapter- 33 of Sri Sai

Satcharita. The Tongawala said, “I am a Kshatriya from Garhwalâ€.

So saying the Tongawala asked him not to exercise any

reservations and take the food. Baba in Dwarakamayi said that he always speaks

the truth, When He went as a Tongawala accompanying Bapugir bua, He said that

He was a Kshatriya from Garhwal, Mainatayi totally surrendered to him. Nana who

had once criticized Baba was now praying and seeking protection. In this case

Baba followed the Khsatriya dharma by protecting Mainatayi and Nana sahib

chandorkar.

Sri Rama being himself a Kshatriya upheld the values

in accordance with his dharma. My personal feeling is that even Baba might have

belonged to the Kshatriyas, as He had ad-dressed himself as Kshatriya from

Garhwal while in the role as Tongawala. Once again I would like to appeal to

all Sai devotees that this is purely my personal conclusion.
