Guest guest
sorry about that.... this should be better:Particles of Sensation and the Experience of Now Whatever is experienced, be it something in the world, such as a sunset, or something " internal " such as a thought, is experienced within the field of awareness and is " pointillistically " displayed there as " particles of sensation " . Close the eyes and rub them and " stars " are seen. It is a display within awareness presented as particles of sensation that are only momentary in duration. It is the same with any experience. If you look at your hand you are beholding a " rendering " that is continually updated in real-time. The same applies to thoughts and feelings. Anything appearing in awareness is dynamically in flux, rendered via particles of sensation, each of which is only momentary in duration. Any apparent continuity in experience is only an illusion, just as the rapid display of frames of a movie creates an illusion of continuity. When experience is viewed in this way a number of things become evident:That there is an " inner world " and an " outer world " is illusory. There is only a borderless, edgeless field of dynamically displayed particles of sensation, an ever-changing flux. Any apparent unities such as ordinary objects (a flower), thoughts and feelings, or abstract notions such as the " self " or " ego " are illusory. Since continuity is illusory, so are any apparent entities, which depend on continuity for their apparent existence.Having dispensed with the illusions of an inner world and an outer world, as well as the real existence of any entity, including such as " self " , " ego " , or even " Self " , what remains? What remains is only this ever-changing flux in the field of awareness. It is now possible to define the notion of " Now " : Now is precisely the ever-changing flux of particles of sensation in the field of awareness. With this definition of Now, " experience of Now " can be defined: Experience of Now is attention so open as to not confine itself to any portion of the particles of sensation in the moment. This means that when attention is as open, as borderless and edgeless as Now, then there is experience of Now.Additional ObservationsOne mark of the experience of Now is a quality of aliveness, a vibrance, a " sparkle " . Such apparent aliveness is an " artifact " of the continual updating of the display of particles of sensation in the field of awareness. The experience of Now is an experience of discontinuity.Cautions Any judgement of the form " I am experiencing Now " is false. The above does not constitute a prescription for opening into " the experience of Now " . Bill

Guest guest
Bill - You are talking about the intersection of time (past, present, future) with the timeless (now, now, now). We can only make such talk by using metaphor. The actuality of the no-time moment is nonmetaphorical. Nothing can stand in for it. No image, not even nothing. One who knows isn't put off by the lack of description available. " It is all clear now, " said the blind man. Somf (Smile on my face.) Flux dissolves here, too. Flux depends on time, depends on memory, depends on a being who is aware of the flux. Flux is the last to go. With flux gone, going is gone. With coming and going gone ... We party! The party at the point of the laser. The party at the end of the world. The party at the event horizon. -- Dan Nisargadatta , Bill Rishel <illusyn wrote: > > sorry about that.... this should be better: > > Particles of Sensation and the Experience of Now > > Whatever is experienced, be it something in the world, > such as a sunset, or something " internal " such as a > thought, is experienced within the field of awareness > and is " pointillistically " displayed there as " particles > of sensation " .
