Both Sides, Now

by Joni Mitchell

Rows and flows of angel hair

And ice cream castles in the air

And feather canyons everywhere

I've looked at clouds that way

But now they only block the sun

They rain and snow on everyone

So many things I would have done

But clouds got in my way

I've looked at clouds from both sides now

From up and down, and still somehow

It's cloud illusions I recall

I really don't know clouds at all

Moons and Junes and Ferris wheels

The dizzy dancing way you feel

As ev'ry fairy tale comes real

I've looked at love that way

But now it's just another show

You leave `em laughing when you go

And if you care, don't let them know

Don't give yourself away

I've looked at love from both sides now

From give and take, and still somehow

It's love's illusions I recall

I really don't know love at all

Tears and fears and feeling proud

To say " I love you " right out loud

Dreams and schemes and circus crowds

I've looked at life that way

But now old friends are acting strange

They shake their heads, they say I've changed

Well something's lost, but something's gained

In living every day

I've looked at life from both sides now

From win and lose and still somehow

It's life's illusions I recall

I really don't know life at all

Cute song, got it on my music player.

Surprised ya like it, seems rather 'vulnerable' considering the defensive stuff

Bob usually posts.

she's a bad ass songwriter.

and a pretty damn good artist as well.

you seem vulnerable to self deception.

that's an insignificant thing to be vulnerable to too Tu-Tu.

but hell that's you right...

and it's your right i guess

i'll try not to post things over your head again.

oops..

scratch that!

i couldn't post anything if i did that.

P.S. why would anyone want to hang around someone who's bad, and an ass? I like

folks who are good, and kind... it's called " being normal " .

But of course, those who misunderstand the nature of reality to be " dual " are

not really normal. More like, half-crazy. Anyone who feels there's " an other "

apart from them must attack, defend and " worship from afar " .

i see.

i pity your sorry ass.

for you to say:

'Anyone who feels there's " an other " ..

apart from them must attack, defend and " worship from afar " .'

is a infantile and inane as it can get.

how the fuck can you address others about there being no others?

how fucking dumb!

the sorriest part is that you think you're being clever.

what can i say?

leave it to nincompoops to come up with stupid shit like that huh?

Don't seem to be any problem chatting with ya around here, Bob. As you haven't

" eaten me alive " yet, you must be quite the vulnerable kitten ;-). Either that,

or just ignorant, and ignorant of the fact.

In that case, why not adress oneself explicitly and let others get it

implicitly. Why are you adressing " others " explicitly? Are you expecting to

get the message that yourself are writng implicitly?

Nothing returns... everything that happens, happens once and for the first time.

It's the mind convincing us that we can " go back " or return to something.

what mind?

who's mind?

" us " ?

but..but..

all is one.

you are me and i am you and we are all together

....and we're a wussy walrus.

what does " once " mean?

where does this nothing return to that you talk about..

when you say: nothing returns?

tell you what wuss..

this is what's happening:

bullshit.

really really big bullshit.

and you want us to believe that you buy that bullshit.

listen here kid..

some things in life are more important than money.

but they all cost a lot of money.

anything in life is more important than your bullshit.

but your bullshit is free.

so you don't have to even buy it.

you own it.

don't try to sell it to anyone else.

bullshit by any other name is still bullshit.

enjoy your free ride.

you ride alone little cowpoke.

and it's funnier than hell!

LOL!

Nothing returns... everything that happens, happens once and for the first

time. It's the mind convincing us that we can " go back " or return to

something.

Anything, any event, arises out of the primordial no-thingness and to it

returns. If there is a " we " in the mind, then the event is the

we-in-the-mind.

Yes... events simply arise " one after the other " in the now. There's no room

for an " I-center " to be around, separate from the events arising.
