Guest guest
Q: Is there a difference between the observer and the observed? J.K.: We are so conditioned, so heavily burdened with the past, with all our knowledge, information, how can the mind be spontaneous? Can the mind observe its activity without prejudice, which means without images? When there is a division between the observer and the observed there is conflict, but when the observer is the observed there is no control, no suppression. The self comes to an end. Duality comes to an end. Conflict comes to an end. This is the greatest meditation, to come upon this extraordinary thing, for the mind to discover for itself the observer is the observed. 2nd Public Dialogue, Brockwood Park, England, 6th Sept. 1973

Funny... I see only a computer screen. No cars, no dogs, no trees, no chairs and no hot dogs. But then, some only see their own thoughts, apparently. Because his statement often was misunderstood K once explainded during a talk: When you look at this microphone then you definitely are not the mike, how stupid, but what your mind does assoziate and interpret about the mike is the observer. In a similar way K explained that the analizer is the analized. When analizing a person then then analizer is not that person itself (how stupid) but the analizer is his analysis and that is the whole point. The analizer in no way is different from his analysis - he IS that analysis but he is not the person who got analized. Werner

Therefore reading UG will nicely clarify some of K's statements which again and again got misunderstood. Werner
