Questioner: Do things happen as you want them to happen, or do you want them to

happen as they happen?

Nisargadatta Maharaj: Both. I accept and am accepted. I am all and all is me.

Being the world I am not afraid of the world. Being all, what am I to be afraid

of? Water is not afraid of water, nor fire of fire.

Also I am not afraid because I am nothing that can experience fear, or can be in

danger. I have no shape, nor name. It is attachment to a name and shape that

breeds fear. I am not attached. I am nothing, and nothing is afraid of no thing.

On the contrary, everything is afraid of the Nothing, for when a thing touches

Nothing, it becomes nothing. It is like a bottomless well, whatever falls into

it, disappears.

Tim,

What Niz wrote was the result of several years of prectice of observing the 'I

am'.

Picking the raisins out of his cake and enjoying them won't teach you how to

bake that cake.

Ok, you can decorate yourself with Niz's words but that way they won't become

your flesh and bones.

Indeed... the hunger within is the breath of fire.

We seek the perfect words in which to clothe ourselves, when it

is *I who am the word made flesh*.

Niz didn't use the term 'you are nothing' but he used the term 'you are the

Do you see the difference between being nothing and never been born ? Surely you

do, Dan.

I myself prefer the term 'I am non-existent'

Heck, let's not even talk to him, if he's nonexistent ;-).

He's something of a projecting device, anyhoo... 'bout on Bryn's level, I'd say.

As far as I'm concerned there is the level in which you are viewing from a

distance someone or some experience that is other than you.

Or, there are no levels, and there is no distance between you and what you view

or " encounter. "

Apparently, it's very rare that a human being expresses awareness of no levels

and no distance apart, no time involved.

It seems that human beings ingrain a sense of surviving, continuing and keep a

sense of time as real, and space between observer and observed as real.

Many, many communications reflect the intent to keep this distance.

Many " nondual communicators " reflect this intent, often " unconsciously " as if

unaware they are doing it, as if they are consciously believing " all is one. "

But they still believe there is a separable they - they are this belief, they

are this energy contraction.

Still, it is indivisible energy, no doubt.

There is beauty when the energy is not attempting to obscure what it is, by

making itself as self and other.

Rarely, there is a communication in which no distance apart is assumed.

For this one, the communicated to, the communicator, and the communicating

aren't divided or divisible.

There is no intent to continue and survive.

There is no demonstration, no sense of adventure assumed in the communicating.

All that's encountered on the Net are words.

Yes, Werner is projected. He's a word, among words.

No human beings are encountered on the Net.

Only words.

Where's the human being? Point him/her out.

Is there even a mental picture?

There are two different ones, then?

One is viewing from a distance someone or some experience that is other.

With the other, the communicated to, the communicator, and the communicating

aren't divided or divisible.

One of the two is being separative.

The other is not.

Is that the message, Dan?

Yes Dan, I am fine with that.

Hopefully, instead of taking or not taking me as an authority better try to find

out what it could mean to be non-existent.

Stay on the ground, Tim, and don't talk crap. Talking about oneself or

expressing one's views is not gossiping.

Just see and accept that you are tending to gossip. Don't be a coward and run

away from it.

" Mental picture is all "

I thought we already covered this one, Toomie. Saying " All is X " is ridiculous,

means nothing.

Awareness (not the word awareness) is obviously not a mental picture. It can't

be pictured... it is. Believing 'everything is unreal' is not nonduality, but

more like a mental disorder ;-).
