He does not know that to grow is in the nature of consciousness. He will progress from motive to motive and will chase Gurus for the fulfilment of his desires. When by the laws of his being he finds the way of return (nivritti) he abandons all motives, for his interest in the world is over. He wants nothing -- neither from others nor from himself. He dies to all and becomes the All. To want nothing and do nothing -- that is true creation! To watch the universe emerging and subsiding in one's heart is a wonder. > > > > -- from " I Am That " > > Dan, (et al) I have yet to see you in strong dissonance with Advaita. I respect your posts here. They remind me of Tolle's " feel " -- dry, but precise and clear. So, I have to ask: why do you call Nisargadatta's quote " beautiful? " After all, it represents the complete annihilation of all things conceptual, material, and spiritual, and it is utterly true, yet it is only 1/2 of Nisargadatta's stance. Point being: Nisargadatta's lifestyle was robust, engaged, heartful, effulgent, blazingly energetic -- where do you see his body/mind adopting, or accommodating, or integrating, or " making practical " or reflecting his above statement? Where do we see his lifestyle espousing the brand of redneck nihilism bandied here? He loved life and lived it, and that is contrary to his statement -- thus we must resolve this dissonance. The nonsense that's offered here as " true Advaita " offends the balance and vastness of the knowledge Nisargadatta embodied. He was all about having your cake and eating it too. Someone posted here that Nisargadatta did pujas etc. " just to humor the short bus folks " -- something like that. How tawdry and low a summation of Nisargadatta's contributions! He was all about having " 200% of life " -- Purnamidah Purnamidam -- " the Absolute is full; the relative is full. " Creation was not manifested solely so that folks could then reject it with a vile attachment to and a misuse of Advaita-as-a-tool -- a misuse that sinfully intends to pull the rug out from under all spiritual values. The relative is the face of the Absolute, and the very " fact " that it -- somehow -- beyond intellect -- is the source of the relative gives the relative the status of " sacredly formed by divinity we know not the non-ways of. " Creation should be honored, bowed to as God's Art, and welcomed into one's mind's small theater and roundly applauded by one's small audience. We're all inside a divinely built cathedral -- worshiping is the order of the day. And, awhoa, what's not to worship? What isn't transcendentally immanent and effulgent? I call all here to step up and get the tee shirt called: " the care and feeding of a human mind. " The poor beast that is one's organism -- my heart breaks for it -- this overworked animal that one has ridden across the plains of time goaded by one's inner homunculus' constant spurrings, and that has been worked into lather after lather, deserves some respect and kindness and sheltering and spiritual husbandry. And that means: give your horse some peace. Give it pasture and oats. Give it a shade tree. Curry it. Love it. It only and solely wants to please you. It is in love with you. It wants only to put its head over your shoulder while you stroke its velvet nose. You are its God. For has it not served you and endured every foul substance you've forced it to eat, has it not burned its candle at both ends for you -- even to the extent that it becomes ill from the stress of trying to serve your many contradictory intents? Is not the body/mind completely sold out to you as your most ardent devotee? All the nihilists here who have dogs or cats as their house pets are certain to treat those pets with more respect than they conceptually treat their own body/minds herein. I say, love your pet-self until you find your pet-owner-Self hidden in plain sight. To post such negativity day after day is to sap one's life of value by hardwiring the brain to be a constant producer of hopelessness. That simply cannot be the intent of creation. Creation is the cherry on top of the Absolute Sundae. One should stride into the future as if carrying God's banner. Each and all of us have body/minds that are capable of being perfect reflections -- how bad is that, eh? Perfection in any form -- gotta love that. Here's the proof of the hypocrisy of the fun-killers here: if any of them -- EACH ONE OF THEM, ALL OF THEM -- were to be walking down the street and a car jumped the curb and rushed towards them -- whoa....we'd see some fuckers scattering. We see some jerks who loved their humanness-pets panicked into every sort of self preservation. If any of you smug fucks deny that you'd jump away, who here would believe you? And, miss not that Ramana or Nisargadatta would jump out of the way too -- even though both are on record with statements like the above. Every Buddha, every incarnation of Krishna, Christ, and on and on the gurus can be named, each and all addressed an audience -- an audience that the stooges and dolts here denigrate. Buddha, Krishna, Christ -- they fucking loved us and took us seriously enough to dedicate their entire lives to alluring us to their spirituality. Each of them thought highly of our nothingness. Yet, here, we see mangy dogs barking themselves hoarse -- arfing about how stoooooopid it is to bark -- bow-wowing that life is a hydrant -- instead of bowing and wowing to/about the miracle that life is. No one gets enlightened by neti nearly as fast as those who love creation and seek unity with it. The perfect neti-ist gets to the state where " nothing can allure me any longer cuz it's all illusion, " but the bhakti gets to a state where " I have been given all that God can give to me, and yet I must have more. " The bhakti is all set to receive grace, the neti-ist has to be hit with a board upside the head and made to pay attention to that which cannot be attended. Gee, does ya think God has an easier time with bhaktis? Do you like Hollywood movies? Does ya pay goodly sums to see them? Tell me: how much would you pay to be able to walk into a store and have a thousand incarnations to choose from? Isn't that what you're doing right now: enjoying an incarnation God chose especially for your entertainment? Are you not now in a Star Trek holodeck watching the big-screen called " my mind? " Is not every thought and feeling you have ABSOLUTELY INTERESTING AND ATTENTION GRABBING? Nope, you fuzzyheads so in love with deconstruction, this ride across the universe is meant to be done laughing all the way. Mount up! When I read it, it felt beautiful to read it, so I said so.
