There is no " the self " glimpsing anything, Toom.

It seems to me that you're going 'round and 'round with this concept.

You repeatedly say it isn't, then you repeatedly say that it does things, wants

things, and sees things.

Your dialogues (monologues?) go back and forth.

This reflects a tension in your understanding.

You are talking to yourself, telling yourself that there is no self.

Then, you are critiquing what the self wants, tries, sees.

When self is utterly deconstructed, dialogues such as these cease to have

meaning.

> It now becomes something that thinks it is nothing.

There isn't any " it " that can think it is something or nothing.

Never has been, nor will be.

> Sometimes it believes that it has become enlightened and tries to explain the

emptiness to the perceived others......and sometimes it just gets depressed.

The above is a misunderstanding.

There isn't any self to become anything or get into any state of feeling, up or

down.

I've noticed how often you make comments about what you think it believes.

It is like you are trying to place yourself somewhere else, by critiquing a self

and what it believes.

Like you want to be someplace with no self by critiquing what the self is doing.

And that will never work.

Not in a million years.

Ahah... there's the rub.

Not to mention the precise reason why Ramana talked so much of " The Self " , and

Nisargadatta said " the way leads through yourself, beyond yourself " , and etc.

The self is an avoidance of the suffering that it is.

A splitting off in ten million different directions.

An attempt to escape itself, to 'get out there'.

All in vain.

Hey, Toom -- " Go back the way you came " .

He talks also of a 'sense of self' appearing.

Wonder what it's supposed to feel like. A tingling sensation in the elbow?

Churning stomach? Spinning head? Walls turning blue, then green, then orange,

then back to blue again?:-p.

Please clarify...which " them " ?

I am trying to figure whether we are talking of the same thing with

different....er....names....or....contexts....i dont know.

You see toomba...the world, or consc.- in my interpretation - does not

contemplate empty presence. But this name sounds very suitable here. So I

ask myself...could it be that toomba and geo are talking of the same thing

but perhaps comming from a different context?

There are those who say that consciousness and manifestation are the same thing.

They are coming from the belief structure of assumed duality.....in which they

exist as the assumed center of perception....... and think that by combining two

of their concepts......that the nature of reality is perceived.
