He has got no self like sentient human beings, he looks like them but he doesn't belong to the human race. The only sound he is capable to make is a desperate eeeeeek, eeeeek, which is telling of his desperation not to own a self like human beeings and therefore he feels so cut off from any communication with fully developed humanoids.
