From where are you looking at the world ?

You easily can find that you are looking from a spot somewhere between your eyes

and between your ears at the world.

That is the reference point which the brain is using to make the me 'real' and

which gives you as a psychological entity the sensation of 'really' existing.

Krishnamurti once was asked from where he is looking at the world and he replied

from behind his head.

If your reference point would shift from between your ears and eyes towards

behind your head then you suddenly would experience your own non-existence.

but i imagine that, for some, the reference point will be again " centered "

somewhere in their head when they read the title " where is your center " ...

because they appearently are suffering from/about a kind of " center allergie " ...

Hi - I'm a new comer to the group.

I live in London and regularly visit the speakers on the neo-advaita circuit.

I read through the posts most days on this group and usually find them interesting.

Although sometimes, not!

I don't know whether it can be accessed from outside the UK but last night on the BBC there was a programme about consciousness.

It's well worth watching because it shows several scientific experiments to show how the "me" is constructed.

For the next 7 days it can be watched through the BBC website.

This is the link: http://WWW.BBC.co.UK/iplayer/episode/b00nhv56/Horizon_20092010_The_Secret_You/

Best wishes,

John

My recollection is that "K" said that it's "as if" or "like" looking takes place somewhere "behind the head". I don't believe he said that is WAS "from behind his head"! But either way, so what? :-))

The usual view of 'now', as a dimensionless instant squeezed between past and

future, doesn't exist anyway... so yes, nor in the now.

But... I would consider " where is it " that one expects something " living " to

actually happen. Not 'thinking', but 'living'.

Who is asking, and who is being asked?

Certainly not Tim, whom Toomie has no clue whatsoever what " handholds " are there

and what aren't. Aside perhaps from the usual second-hand assumption and

surmisal involved in conversation, which is always " self projected " as other.
