T: Then what is it... being dead?

P: There is no being that is dead. People

think of death as a single event that

happens to an individual being, but actually

death is a cluster of events that, in the

physical level, happen to different organs

at different times.

Usually, the brain dies first, followed by

different organs minutes, hours, and in

the case of hair, and nails days later.

Those different mortality schedules make

organ transplant possible.

Our psychic life is dying all the time

unnoticed. Emotions and feelings flare

up and die. Dreams, and thoughts are

forgotten. Memories also died one by one.

When the brain finally dies all the surviving

mental events, and memory itself also die,

And the subjective life story that bears our

name finally dies.

Can we say the dead are at peace, that they

will be unconscious for all eternity. That

will be parceling unconsciousness into

individual little plots like in a cemetery.

Such cannot be done. We can neither say they

are at peace, nor say that they will reincarnate.

Individuality is an illusion both in life and in

death. Consciousness, and perception are generic,

belong to no one, and will go on as long as there

is aware life in the universe at large.

Death is the concept - the idea - you can be other than you truly are - whole

and perfect as you were created thus you are as you are not -nlimited to

changing states, thoughts, feelings, appearances and concepts of a self that in

reality does not exist.
