Guest guest
There are some in which 'ego' expresses as " help me! Look at me! Notice me! " and there are some in which it expresses " I'll help you! I'm looking at you! I notice you! " This is the flip side of the ego " co-dependency " , and in my view can be even more pernicious than the " look at me! " side. Ego has become a professional do-gooder, and so is now able to hide from itself. It seems very hard for people to understand that when the " me " goes, the " you " goes with it... and yet, if we look at a duality as being like a coin, one side of the coin cannot exist without the other. With 'ego' gone, one stands alone -- one could say, 'independent' of both self and other. The 'coin' itself is transcended, and one *really* stands outside the whole mechanism. Not that either of these (self/other) are pushed away or rejected, but the whole momentum toward " me and you " isn't there any more, the co-dependency of these two poles. One can 'take or leave' socializing... it is freedom from attachment.
