It really nutshells Advaita, yet, though Nisargadatta lashes us repeatedly with the above conceptual whips, sigh, how long it took me to feel like I got the message which the quote, to me now, seemingly is screaming at the reader. It may be loud to those with ears, but it's one subtle S.O.B. too! At the Advaita groups, I would estimate that up to 90% of the posters don't grok the above paragraph (at least their statements are inconsistent with the above.) The Absolute is presented as beyond even being and non-being, and it is presented as real despite the fact that it's non-real too, and we're encouraged to think that even though " nothing is the only word to use for it) it is EVERYTHING even though it's also every non-thing too. Too me, when I stop the world with inquiry, that everythingness of the Absolute is as if solid rock to me, and that " true " Identity is so profound that the cup overfloweth into creation's illusions -- everything gets coated with Identity, saturated with Identity, such that, who can blame the poor ego for thinking it's sentient? Christ said the rocks would cry out if He stopped preaching. In today's age, He'd say: " The quarks are screaming, and the strings are humming, and, beware the fates if you don't listen to My words and must perforce be taught by angry quarks with Medusa's rope-snaky hair! " What quietness it is that Mother Divine's embrace allows! Edg

They make Advaita a religious exercise, and their advaita stops at Saguna only. Many believe that the 'Self/Consciousness' are the absolute..That is why I wrote about ajativada on wikipedia etc.....and coined the phrase Para-Advaita as the the superior non state...........Cheers Tony. Hee hee. I'm not a Hindu in the least, but of course, my credo's Venn overlaps Hinduism's Venn to a significant degree. I like the pantheon of Hinduism, because I consider each god as a dynamic of the human nervous system -- human psychology is delineated thereby. Try to find a better metaphor for the ultimate cul de sac than Indra's plight for instance. There's your god who has it all, but is miserable nonetheless, and that serves us all to see that acquiring of powers build no muscles for breaking out of the box. Acquiring is not inquiring. I think the hardest aspect of Advaita is grasping the difference between Identity and identification. Everyone's whacking the ego-moles, but they are not in the least getting out of the identification business. Inquiry is stopping all the NON sense instantly -- instantly in the truest sense of " timelessly. " Bang! Stop everything with one question, " who am I? " and dwell in the unansweringness until it becomes IT. Edg

This state is entirely one and indivisible, a single solid block of reality. The only way of knowing it is to be it. The mind cannot reach it. Guest guest
Maharaj: What was never lost can never be found. Your very search for safety and joy keeps you away from them. Stop searching, cease losing. The disease is simple and the remedy equally simple. It is your mind only that makes you insecure and unhappy. Anticipation makes you insecure, memory -- unhappy. Stop misusing yo...ur mind and all will be well with you. You need not set it right -- it will set itself right, as soon as you give up all concern with the past and the future and live entirely in the now. Questioner: But the now has no dimension. I shall become a nobody, a nothing ! Maharaj: Exactly. As nothing and nobody you are safe and happy. You can have the experience for the asking. Just try. let's jump into Nothingness..... exchanging Illusion with/into Awareness then here we are now... all in One... One in all... and nobody in anything anymore Marc Ps: Oooooommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Just try. as nothing and nobody... happiness isn't needed... or even possible. neither is it's opposite. what a joke! just don't try to not try.. and whatever you do don't think about a monkey. and now without dimension.. there isn't even anyone in any place to notice.. that the idea of questioner and answerer.. is even more of a joke than.. well there is no more than or less than. why do you bother with this banal shopworn crap? you must need to be an eternal student. well you're sort if succeeding.. but you'll never be a your own master. your success as a student.. is marred by your failure to see this. be it ever so precious... lose the cuteness of this preciousness. if you don't un-become a " somebody " .. it remains unbecoming a nobody. and just so.. you'll rely on this silly stuff that you're so fond of quoting. drop it. you won't need it. you won't be around. than all that talk about bliss will be seen for what it is. there is no wonderful experience for nobody. it's childish fairy tale talk. what's never been found has never been lost. here the first step of the above need not be a consideration. ..b b.b.
