Nisargadatta's " me " was no exception. > Transforming is the name - not sublimation. > > ~ Jan that's trying to sublimate the meaning of the word sublimation. sublimation means transformation. this is Jan's obfuscatory technique. sounds profound but it's meaningless. > The word " mind " is thought's attempt to depict itself — to itself — as an ongoing, persistent entity rather than the series of transient events it is. > > ~ Bruce Morgen what do you think that statement is for God's sake? it's not outside the loop. it says nothing of significance. > To be attached to things is illusion; to encounter the absolute is not yet enlightenment. ~Sandokai there is no such thing as enlightenment. this is searching for the ridiculous not the sublime. > What I have is his gift and what I do with want I have is my offering to Him. ~Swami Chinmayanandaji. so what? that pretty much sums up everyone's everyday life. nothing special. only the notion of " Him " may be different. maybe " Him " is " me " ? > Without memories we neither love, nor hate - nor suffer for loses we don't recall. ~ Pete Petie loves tautological statements. > True freedom is freedom from form, which is why what can be described is never where freedom lies. ~Bill Rishel this is the basis of Bill's paintings. you don't know what the hell they depict. he puts any word he wants to them. they are pretty but pretty damn senseless too. if Bill calls this freedom... well won't be rude. i like 'ol Billy. > Does a shadow merge back into the sun? ~ Toombaru > > When i think, i am mistaken.... i think. ~ Yosy > > If love is home, why does everyone leave? ~ Anna heyt! toombaru and yosy were un-subbed at the same time as me from NDS. maybe you should quote me too ac. and Anna dear has had her times. particularly at Sarlo's playhouse. i thought you had somethin' agin' people who were not tolerated.. at those little lists of losers ac.. you've obviously changed your mind. why? because they are on your list that's why. you're playing faves kiddo. how spiritual is that? Guest guest
There is no you outside your memories. A peaceful mind is like a still wind……neither exist. Factor out the assumption that you are the doer and the word " purpose " looses its meaning. The benefit of meditation is the insight into the nature and result of the incessant root-brain-chatter. When one seriously " looks inside " …..nothing can be found. Determine if you exist before you start looking for purposes. " Liberated mind " is a contradiction of terms. .... http://www.numii.net/word_press/people/toombaru-2 Our mind is like a clear glass of water. If we put salt into the water, it becomes salt water; sugar, it becomes sugar water; shit, it becomes shit water. But originally the water is clear. No thinking, no mind. No mind, no problem. .... http://www.numii.net/word_press/gurus/seung-sahn Vedanta says - mind alone is responsible for bondage as well as freedom. So it is both - culprit as well as means to go beyond the mind. That is what meditation is also - use the mind to go beyond the mind. The notions in the mind that I am this and I am that etc - where I am - the existent-conscious entity identifies with this and this. These notions are in the intellect. Hence these preconceived notions form obstruction for the knowledge - this is also what JK calls as pre-conditioning of the mind - and as you are familiar any attempts to decondition would only condition in a different way. Vedanta understands this and uses a methodology for the intellect to get rid off these preconceived notions and recognize the reality behind the plurality. .... http://www.numii.net/word_press/people/k-sadananda
