Perhaps, it is one of your favorite movies. It is one of my favorite movies. In the context of the Matrix movie, I think Adi Da was similar to the character "Cypher" <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Matrix>, who preferred the varieties of Matrix over the 'sameness' of the Reality. Like "Cypher", he was very kin on having luxuries, goodies, fame and women in the Matrix and was willing to "trade" his knowledge of the reality to get these goodies in the Matrix. To Adi Da, the main use of his "knowledge" of the reality was to use it to get a "good deal" in the Matrix, to get the goodies, luxuries and women in the Matrix. Like Cypher, he was ready to betray the fellow "seekers" of Reality to gain luxuries, 'fan following' and women in the Matrix. Like Cypher, he didn't really want to abide in the Reality. The sameness of the Reality made him miss the varieties and the ('false') luxuries of the Matrix... even though, just like Cypher, he too knew those luxuries of the Matrix to be 'false'. And, like Cypher, he too betrayed and harmed those who trusted him, in order to get a 'better life in the Matrix' for himself. I know Da Free John or Da Kalki or Adi Da very well. Yes, he had 7 wifes, luxury life on Fiji. He had many ashrams on Hawai, California and Holland and other places, but he lived on island on Fiji (gift from some devotee). His devotee had many restrictions, but he lived limitlessly regarding sex, food, money etc... His teaching was not non-dual, but dual, but what was and is main problem with his legacy is that he was not explaining to others (as Nisargadatta did) that his followers are perfect, their nature is absolute, eternal and totally free. Adi Da said - I am perfect, I am avatar, i am free of taint, I am alone on seventh stage (for example Ramana Maharshi was on lower sixth stage and Nisargadatta also according to his scale) but you, my dear devotees, are on first or barely second stage - because you need sex and so on ... but I don´t need nothing:). He looked sadly at the eng of his life, his spiritual life ended in fiasco - it is funny, just imagine to be Guru like profession, but he at the end of his life he changed ´profession´ of Guru and instead of spirituality he was photograph:). It is funny, is not it? Just imagine Ramana of Maharaj, - they would made statement that they will come back to office or schoo l:) Ales
