Guest guest
Namaste, all The purpose of the Upanishads is not to set one free, but to unfold that one is already free as one is Poornam. To assimilate and recognize this knowledge and fact, various prakriyas are used, including Neti Neti, being the most logic one. One is suffering or one feels bound or not free, not because that one has a body, i.e. one is embodied or unembodied, but because of one's false knowledge or notion that he himself is the body, mind and intellect. Since the BMI can be objectified, it is very logic to understand and appreciate that one is not BMI. Ignorance itself is not a problem. I see in darkness something, say a rope, lying on the road and I just walk away with a thought that I do not know what is that lying on the road. However, once I take the rope for a snake, I suffer fear etc. So, the mistake or false knowledge one has because of absence of the right knowledge of a Vastu, or ignorance about a Vastu, holds him bound and suffer. Neti Neti does not ask one to ignore the objects, particularly the body, mind and intellect. This prakriya, including the other prakriyas like, pancha kosa, avastathraya, etc., are for one to correct one's notion that any pleasure or pain from body, mind and intellect, can legitimately bind one, and because of the self knowledge as unfolded by the Upanishads that one is in fact free, it is for one to be indifferent to such pain and pleasure, or to be Udasinah, i.e. not to be emotionally upset and bound. Since all the objects have a purpose to serve, being creation, one at the same time should take care of the objects, including the body, mind and intellect and " treat " them wherever required, so that they can continue to serve the purpose for which they are meant for. The voluminous bhashyas written by the great acharyas and the satsangh one is exposed to is for recognizing this fact. So, whether one is embodied or unembodied is not making one bound, but one's false knowledge because of ignorance about the swaroopa of one's self, is making him bound. What is binding one is not the BMI, but one's false knowledge or notion that BMI is binding one and one must do something about the BMI to be free. BMI is not meant for binding one or setting one free as they are not capable of that, and they are meant for other purposes. All the prakriyas are only for correcting one's notion or false knowledge about Aham, Idam and Iswara, as it is absence of this knowledge or ignorance of the Swaroopa or Aham, Idam and Iswara, that makes one feel that he is not Poornam or he is incomplete or he is not free.
