This is a similar topic to the one on dvIpa-s. The reason that the dates of

birth/death of the Sages of advaita are so hazy is that they are simply not

relevant. If you are interested in the academic development (or distortion)

of the philosophical concepts, read a book such as the excellent 'The Method

of the Vedanta' by Sri Swami Satchidanandendra. But, as regards dates, one

expert will suggest one date, another expert something different. How can

you ever differentiate and what difference would it make? Reality is beyond

time and space; dates are simply part of the illusory vyavahAra.
