Who knows what tomorrow will be like? Dear Harsha, Even the memory of one having experienced some sensation or event is unreal, or at best a conceptualization. The, " What is, " is alone real, which, however, one cannot seek as an object of knowledge. Actually, one doesn't see anything, but only interprets the actual, this interpretation being stored constantly as a psychological memory standing in the way of true perception where the interfrence of the observer is not there. Guest guest
Namaste: Here are the words of wisdom from the sages of the Upanishads: Life is a bridge, enjoy while crossing and don't build any castle! " I am of the following opinion regarding your question: An advaitin accepts everything that he/see comes across without entertaining any thoughts! regards, Ram Chandran advaitin , " R.S.MANI " <r_s_mani wrote: > > > Namaste, all > " The foolish reject what they see and not what they think. Guest guest
Maniji : thanx for breathing some 'life' into the discussions ! here is my take Brihadaranyaka Upanishad III.7.23. … " He is never seen, but is the Seer; He is never heard, but is the Hearer; He is never thought of, but is the Thinker; He is never known, but is the Knower. There is no other seer than He, there is no other hearer than He, there is no other thinker than He, there is no other knower than He. He is your Self, the Inner Controller, the Immortal. Everything else but Him is perishable. " anyway , there is a beautiful discussion on this subject 'seeing and thinking' from an advaitin's point of view in http://www.advaita.org.uk/discourses/teachers/seeing_anon.htm enjoy advaitin , " R.S.MANI " <r_s_mani wrote: > > > Namaste, all > " The foolish reject what they see and not what they think. Mani If what is thought and what is seen are considered to be independent, separate objects, neti, neti to them. If they are considered as manifestations of Brahman, as is the Advaitin him/herself, what is is. Best wishes, Richard
